Mike Filsaime and Mark Braunstein have soft launched 'Vtribes', (this was in January of 2008.) VTribes which use to be Visiongate and Braunstein was one of the owners.

If they have not completely reworked it from when it was VG then I can see why it is failing.

    Another reason could be lack of sales. Have you contacted them or their support? Here is the info if you haven't;

Unless you are extremely comfortable with scripts and open source programming, my recommendation is to get out of vtribes immediately and find another solution.

It is evident this project is not profitable enough for those at the helm - which means it is no longer a priority for their business model. Therefore you as the customer will suffer unless you are comfortable getting your hands dirty under the hood.

There are many other great options for membership sites whose owners are 100% committed to maintaining quality software for their customers. Do a search here and you'll find a bunch.

    Best of luck,
    Ken

yikes...yes I have contacted support...but there will be no support after Jan 31

I would need to migrate this whole site to another host...according to vtribes...they are not providing hosting...
Ken...I thought I could just move this site to another host and since it's currently up and running it would be okay?

If i do get out completely ...I would need to be able to migrate forum and content to another solution...and so far I have had no luck finding that solution

        Hi,

Mark, owner of Visiongate had come to me in 2007 to partner with him
to the project of marketing. We felt it was a good idea to rebrand since
we were going to make many changes.

We did a lot to improve the site and I still use it for many of my own
projects like the7figurezone.com and a few others.

We ran into some hosting issues and we were losing clients.

I felt that the marketing efforts I wanted to help with the company did not
live up to the promises I had given to Mark, so in the Middle of 2008, I
sold all my interest back to Mark. He took back full ownership of the site
while he decided where he wanted to go with it.

I had asked him to remove the videos of me on the front page and I started
to take the logo's off my sites. But we were both busy and the videos stayed
on the site so many still associated the project with me.

The address given by Chuck is my corp address but it was for when we
formed vTribes but that was since given back to Mark. I have NO VESTED
interest in the site at all.

I notified Mark about this post. I am sure he will post in here.

Mark had taken a lot to come to this decision I am sure. I was part of it for about
9 months but Mark was with this for over 6 years so I am sure this was very hard for
him. He is focusing his efforts in different areas that are very lucrative for him.

So he has decided to make this transition in a way that benefits the members the
        best way possible.

Keep your sites and no longer pay $97 a month. All you do is move to your
own host which he will help with. PLUS you get access to the source code.

That was never available before (not even to me) so that is a good thing.

So there is no need for anyone to panic. The system is robust, yet a bit hard to
use until yo get to know it. But it is sound and powerful.

When Mark made the decision to close, I was not even aware. Nor did I need
to be as I was not owner of the company in any way anymore.

I found out yesterday when he sent this email to his customers.

        Thanks

        Mike Filsaime

        ======
Here is the email Mark sent out to his customers.

I am sure all of the questions you need are here and he will be
getting more info to the members soon.

EMAIL SENT BY MARK ON MONDAY DEC 29th

        Happy Holidays Mike,

It's been a tough year with lots of challenges and we've seriously considered many possibilities about how to proceed with vtribes and honor our commitment to you, our clients. After serious consideration, we have decided to drastically restructure vtribes beginning next month.

What does that mean for you?

Firstly, as of 1/31/09 we will no longer host vtribes websites. We will assist all clients in moving sites up to 1/31/09, provide support as normal to this date and provide server specifications at our website. Enabling this self-hosted version of vtribes will empower you to host where you choose and not be bound by any past restrictions we had in place. Web hosting is a competitive business and you should all have the choice of where you host.

Second, all ticket and phone based support will end on 1/31/2009. We plan to maintain an open forum and will keep all help files faqs and guides available online at getvtribes.com. All regular support services will of course continue until the date above and have been resolved.

You may be asking yourself how any of this is going to be beneficial to you, well, now for the really exciting news. We are terminating all subscriptions in January! That is correct, you will no longer pay for vtribes in any form after January of next year. In addition to this, we are providing access to the opened source code for all clients. This will allow you to manipulate the code in any way that suits your needs and let you customize the software however you see fit.

We at vtribes have been honored to serve you all over the years; we are greatly appreciative and sincerely thank you for your business with us. It has been quite a run; however, the time has come for us to focus our energies on other opportunities. I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of our clients, both past and present, for their business and reassure you we will do everything possible to assist you in moving your sites to new homes over the next month.

May the New Year bring us all health, wealth and happiness.

        Warmest Regards,
        vtribes

Mike and the letter to the clients have pretty much filled you in as far as what is going on with vTribes.

Georgette, you have opened several support inquiries and we've told you personally and in the notice that we would help move your site (and any other clients) to any host you choose. We even made hosting suggestions without affiliation as to some of your options and will continue to provide you support and service through January so you don't feel rushed. I was surprised to see your post when you clearly had the answers.

I have always said I would never leave any client "hanging" without resolution and support if we decided to end the "hosted" solution and that is exactly what we are doing.

Unfortunately, our hosting partner had a lot of issues the last few months (fiber cuts, etc) along with moving data centers, and rather than force clients to continue to endure these issues (our problems) , I decided to allow clients to use the software free of charge and host where they want.

I hope you see the positive side of this - free software and the ability to choose your own host.

I hope you and others can use the savings and software to further your ventures in 2009.

    Happy New Year!

    Mark Braunstein

I hope you can understand that fear. especially since I have no technical skills whatsoever..I was panicing becuase of that and reassurance is a good thing...Thank you
