I am Mad at Amazon Not California

Sorry for starting a new thread, but I think it touches on a new angle.

Yes I am an affiliate and I don't like that Amazon canceled my account, but I am mad at Amazon, because I am not only an affiliate but I am also a citizen of my state.

I do believe that amazon cancleled my account to get me mad at my goverment. But I understand my goverment. All of the local businesses that create jobs in California can't compite with Amazon because they are stuck paying state sale tax, when Amazon does not.

So instead of adjustting to the law and playing by the rules, amazon decides to drop us, allof the people who worked hard to promote their products for mere 4% commission in 24 hour period? Well forget you Amazon, I am sure some other business would want to deal withour 30 million state and all the money that can be made here.

And than they email me telling me to change my address, essentially hinting that I should break a law and lie? F that, I wasn't making that muchh from your lousy affiliate proram to begin with...

But Amazon is stuck paying shipping costs whereas the local businesses are not.

The local businesses need to learn how to compete rather than whine about how this or that is supposedly hurting them.

I do not believe that - the letter I saw (posted) mentioned changing address only if you move out of california.

You are going to have a lot of companies to be mad at - Overstock.com and many other affiliate programs are dropping Cali just as Amazon has.

It doesn't really matter if you are angry with Amazon or with legislators - it is what it is and should be no surprise as it's happened in other states. The legislators surely knew what would happen when they passed this new law.

Any state can clearly see if they do A - Amazon does B. If they choose A - no one should be surprised when B happens. What is surprising is the full scope of this new law which Kindsvater outlined in his thread about this.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.
