Directory Submissions, are they worth it?

So I was looking around at some SEO stuff and I was looking into directory submissions to a place like digiXmas. Is it worth my time, or money? I could only find a couple of posts on it. Any suggestions?

    Hey,

Personally I do not do any article directory submissions they have never worked very well for me, since most of them a low quality anyway.

It depends on the site if I am trying to rank a seasonal site for just a month or to in order to make a quick buck, I go black hat (Xrumer, Scrapebox, Fiverr).

My main sites however do not use those tactics because I want long term value, I build links the good old way contacting webmasters and build some good content also some social media.

Your questions answer in short - Dont spend to much time doing it and dont spend much money doing it, the value of the links are not worth the time or money. Sometimes I do get a directory link only to speed up indexing.

I believe submitting your site to web directories is worth your time. You probably won't gain a ton of traffic from the directories, but you gain permanent links back to your site. You can easily outsource the project. I believe here in the Warrior forum there's a couple of people who do directory submissions.

Submitting to directories is something you should outsource. It's not worth your time to manually submit to hundreds of directories. There are countless services to submit for you. Make sure they will rotate your title and description multiple times.

Directory submission is like laying down a light blanket for your website. It is of value when you have hundreds of active links. Each link gains small value however.

Unfortunately the success rate for free directory submission is quite small (2-3%), so keep the labor rate down.

I've been doing SEO for years.

      Should you submit to directories?

It depends on the directory, and why you are submitting.

If you're doing it purely for a backlink, don't invest much into it. Use a submitter, hire it done, but don't put a lot of time or energy into it. I'd say skip it altogether, but since a lot of publishers consider directory submission one of the first things they should do, it adds to a 'natural' link profile.

On the other hand, if you stumble over an active, well-maintained, niche- or topic-specific directory with actual traffic, go for it. You have a chance to put your site in front of live eyeballs, which is what you want.

The only people who get paid for search rankings are SEO types.

When I first started directory submission was one of my tactics. At least for me, from what I could track, it did not produce anything meaningful...so, I stopped, and haven't tried since. I have submitted for a some offline clients to certain respected directories though.

Yes, directory submissions are worth it.

Take the case of article submissions. Doing this will allow you to post information about your area of interest. This is one of the greatest ways by which you can get one way link for your site. Everyone knows that search engines love links and more submissions mean more links for your website – that means good rankings for your website.

It is worth noting also that the traffic driven to your website through article submission is targeted. What does this mean? Well, it means that each and every person clicking on the links inserted into the article is a potential customer. What better way to present yourself and your business to prospective clients?

Nevertheless, advertising through article submissions remains beneficial as long as you pay increased attention to the content of your writing. If you establish yourself as a credible source, then you will have loyal readers. And it won't take too long before your website will appear on top of search engines.

But as most of the members here said, it is best to outsource this kind of things.

I could lend you a hand if you'd like. Our team offers services such as directory submissions, and other online marketing strategies, taking these away from you hands so you could focus on what's really essential.

      Hope this helps!
