Default Silly question about article directories

Do the links in the authors resource box count as back links?

I'm using a Firefox plugin SearchStatus and doing a Google search link:domain.com and not showing any results even with published articles at ezinearticles.com going back to 2004.

Thanks,

Alan

I think it depends on the search engine. If you do the link thingy with my DIY PC repair website on Google I get 1 lousy link. But if I do the same thing at Yahoo and I get 80 mostly from article directories.

Go figure!

Yeah they act as backlinks. It could be the service you're using to search for your backlinks. I get mixed results with those.

Google only shows you the ones that are important in their opinions (I think).

Yahoo will always show you the most.

Just another new article directory.

Here is another scenario and the results form the search...

Go to google.

Do a search as- link:domain name- 3 results w/ another 173 in the similar results section

Search- link: domain name (w/ a space) 1790 results w/ another 50 in the similar results section

the yahoo results- 5046 results

Here is the question... this site has over 6000+ links running to it from ezinearticles alone and does not count any other directories.

What are your thoughts???

Does that mean the other directories don't count as back links? I always thought that people suggested submitting them for back links, although I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first or last time)

Thanks
