Ban by Fiverr? Here the reason

Hi;
Do you get ban by fiverr?
Or, do you want to avoid at any cost from being banned by fiverr?

Here I tell you one reason.

1. Ask others to install fiverr clone.

Yes, I did request on "Buyer Requests" box to install a script like fiverr, and
suddenly my account got banned.

I believe, this is the only reason that getting my fiverr account banned.
haha......

PS : There's a lot more causes on why an account getting ban.

I'm open for anyone to share their experience on why they getting banned.

PPS. Fiverr didn't tell me, why my account is being banned, it just happen like that. I read the rules, but I never break their rules.

So, I figure out, this must be the reason why my account was ban.

If you have been banned by any service or company the best thing to do would be to liase with the company that has issued the ban.

Discussing it here would only be speculation and we would only get told half of the story.

After tens of email sent to them, I gave up.
      No reply and nothing.

My intention on opening this thread is never to create a speculation here, far from it.

It just a reminder to all not doing the same mistake as myself.

I got my account ban almost 40 days ago, and waiting 5 to 6 days more to contact them again, to claim all my money with them.

(they said, I can collect my money after 45 days of issuing ban)

Good advice, when that fails go to the Better Business Bureau if you have further legit complaints.

Well to be honest it is understandable that they might consider banning you for something like that. It is one thing to potentially take business away from their website, but to also use their website as a means to get your own Fiverr copy set up? Why would they agree with you doing that

They should have give you a warning though, but I can imagine they have some sort of rule that states not to request such work?

haha.....that's why I'm telling people not do this 'stupid' thing like me...haha.

It was a Fiverr maniac that day, when I thought, people will do anything to get $5.

Well I made a mistake, people may do anything for $5, but there's a middle man that don't want things to happen like that.

      Hehe

BTW, life must go on. I created new account, and things getting normal back.

Judging by what you did, it looks like it's well deserved lol. I hope you get the money they owe you though, first they don't give you a warning and then they don't return your money. The least you'd expect from ANY service out there is a reply back.

Haha......that make my heart double strike. :p
      Yeah, deserve to

Hopefully they will give back my money.

    .
    So you read the rules?

Then you would have known not to put scripts in the buyer request box.

    You never broke the rules?

You just said you put a script in the buyer requests box.

Am I the only one missing something here????

Long story you read the rules and chose to ignore one of the rules and did something you were not ment to do and you got banned and I am sorry but rightly so.

Ebay have rules also and when they find those who break the rules they get the same response a ban.

You break the road rules and you also get a penalty/ban

Not really something to be unsure of or something to find funny and wear as a badge of honour on the forums

I never get warning only banned lol.

First, time I got banned from Fiverr, I still don't know why, I used to be only buyer, and I didn't own any fiverr clone website at the time. I just one time tried to loggin and found out that : This account was suspended ...

I wasn't asking for anything related to fiverr or any clone ( at that time I wasn't even aware there are similar websites ).

To be fair, thanks to fiverr, as if they didn't ban me, I would never know there are other exist out there and I maybe wouldn't start my own either.

I signed up again, but the next time i got banned when i ordered article for my fiverr clone website.

I don't know why they don't provide any warning, or why they don't send an email with why this account is getting suspended.

It is a little wild west in Fiverr! I guess the good thing is that it only costs five bucks, and most of the time I just do tweets for people, so nothing comes out of pocket. Use it for testing out VA's and other vendors. Do not expect to much out of the service.

Because they had a successful business model, you attempted to create a clone....a direct competitor with the attention to steal their business away.

All speculation aside, I'd have to say that this is a reasonably good guess as to why they banned your account. A warning 'may' have been nice, but, with everyone and their brother wanting to create clone sites, 'banning' may have actually be a lax punishment compared to pursuing legal routes...

Instead you should have asked for a php script to be installed.

If people don't already know there are folks in the world who've built up fake Facebook profiles, let me inform them: There are people who build up fake Facebook profiles. And open hundreds of YouTube accounts. And have thousands of fake followers on Twitter.

Usually their Fiverr feedback is a tipoff, if they've done more than a few gigs, though that's not always true. Heck, there's a Malaysian guy who is (as far as I can tell) Fiverr's number one seller with over 3,000 positive feedbacks. He got there by creating forum profiles on trashy foreign language .edu sites and convincing people this is valuable SEO. He soundly berates anyone who tries to point out the obvious. He gets lots of positive feedback because people leave it right after the gig is completed -- it's a "hope and a prayer" response rather than a review of the actual gig. If his "SEO" efforts worked, it would take weeks, not hours, but they're ignorant and don't realize that.

      • I won't even post his Fiverr username anywhere.

But I don't think he should be removed from Fiverr. I like the Wild West; there are too many other rules in too many other places. eBay was great until there were so many arcane and obscure rules implemented (gotta cover every situation!) that no one could possibly know them all.

Raja Kamil, I think I bought a Fiverr gig from you once about a year ago.

Hi fellow brother from the same country.

Well, obviously something like that will not go well. Besides there's a Fiverr-like site targeting Malaysia already, but I don't think things are as smooth sailing as Fiverr. It has the advantage of being the pioneer and it's only natural that it wants to protect its idea.

But thanks for sharing it and warning other people.

So far I've been having good experiences using Fiverr, and making a little money from it too.

You can easily set up a new account with a different username, as paypal allow up to eight email addresses with one account, so there wouldn't be a problem in opening a new account with fiverr, as it's not IP related.

      I agree Anna.

I am the oposite in the sense I do not work on fiver but I do buy many gigs on there and have had mainly positive experiences and have been fortunate enough to get some great work done at a fantastic price.

It would be a shame for fiver to go down the toilet due to scams and members breaking rules etc.

I think fiver will only get better and better from a buyers perspective as I would imagine as competition gets stronger the value of whats included in the gig will increase.

      I have had logo's done
I have had an article done
      I have had photo's done
I have had voice overs done
I have had pc problems fixed

So much done all for $5 each and what a great thing fiver came up with and as others have said it is no suprise that fiver would protect their brand and product.

Great, when I read this reply, suddenly I remember a thread on War Room, that sharing a report on Best Gigs he even outsourced.

Last time I downloaded, there were 50 gigs he mentioned, but being updated by now at 80 gigs that provided good service.

For War Room member, I really think this is a best report on 'Get Things Done at Fiverr', check this out, http://www.warriorforum.com/war-room...er-fiverr.html

PS : Mod, I'm not sure 'hijacking' my own thread is wrong or not, but I guess this is add in a value for this thread.

Not being a jerk. This is a marketing/business forum. I think one could be reasonably certain that a place like fiverr, with a truly unique and innovative business idea, would start banning the accounts of people who tried to replicate their success. You were, most likely, not the only one who has their account banned because of this.

Nothing Harsh about it at all, I am a bit upset that someone would set out to rip a company off and then think it's funny that they got a ban.

I also find it sad that unfortunatly when you bring up IM to friends etc they first think "oh like spam emails" or "oh those scam sites"

So is it not harsh that those that do the right thing get put in this category due to the actions of a bad few?

              I agree entirely, Aussie.

Beyond Fiverr, IM has been significantly tainted because of those actions of a "few". It directly impacts EVERYONE, when actions such as these result in people being so skeptical of lies and deception that they won't purchase or try legit products. It directly impacts the businesses of those who are trying to do things the honest and ethical way.

I know I can do that. I am just not comfortable that a 'reputable' site can banned anyone without a justifiable reason. Despite contacting their support and subsequent reminders they still refuse to reply to my reasonable request for a reason. Maybe they mistakenly banned me and can't find a reason to justify it.

        • Of course you were just minding your own business on Fiverr, nothing to see here, move along, move along...

I'm reasonably certain that the owners of Fiverr like making money just as much as any of us here and if they thought they could make money by your participation on the site, they wouldn't have banned you.

I'm always amused by claims that this site or that has to explain itself when it culls users.

I was being banned on 16 march 2011. After asking the reason they replied with a copy paste message in which it is written that you have violated the TOS and the funds will be cleared after 45-90 days. Now its been 5 months that is 150 days, and just when i tried to ask them about the money. They don't even bother to reply.

I buy a few gigs and there were no problem with the sellers. The only things is I do not leave any feedback. One or two months later I try to log-in again but without success and contacted their support which was very unhelpful.

I give up on them as that's not the way to treat your buyer/customer.

When you get your refund, your negative rating disappears. Fiverr know they have scammers and refuse to ban them. They just want to keep people getting scammed so they make more money.
Sooo, TRUE!! Here's a story (WITH SCREEN CAPTURES!!) about what happened to me. (How NOT to Drive Traffic Using Fiverr | Marketing Ideas 101) This scam was for increased traffic to my website for a month, but the seller was supplying junk traffic. I called the gig off early and Fiverr gave the scam artist the out and removed my negative rating and removed my warning to future shoppers. INSIDIOUS!

Then--wouldn' t you know it--I ran across another scam involving Craigslist ad postings. This one couldn't produce any ads that weren't ghosted, but apparently the seller's Fiverr buyers were taking the direct links the seller was providing to the ads as gospel and not realizing their ads weren't indexing or searchable. Junk!

As of today, I have officially been banned for the first time after buying hundreds of dollars of gigs from them over the past year.

My offense? I asked a content writer to work up a blog post about Fiverr scams. No kidding. The gig owner wrote this shortly before my account was restricted:

"Hi there Matt! I'm very sorry but I have to pass this time. I don't feel confident or competent enough with your particular topic or requirements. Requesting for the cancellation of the order and the funds will be refunded back to you. Thanks for understanding!"

When I went to decline the cancellation request and give her a different topic she might better be suited for, I found my account was unable to complete the action. The error message said my account had been restricted and that I could forward any questions to Fiverr support. Here's how THAT went:
Matt, Nov 29 17:21 (IST): Folks, I have a gig seller that is trying to cancel an order because she does not feel qualified to write on the topic (scams on Fiverr). That's fine, but I want to keep the gig and simply give her a different topic. The system is not allowing me. Any thoughts?

Julia - Fiverr's Customer Support Team (Fiverr Customer Support), Nov 30 04:01 (IST): Hi Matt, we are unable to reinstate your account at this time. Users who violate our Terms of Service and get their account permanently restricted will be able to complete any active orders they may have; and will continue to have access to their completed orders. The funds in your shopping balance have been returned to your PayPal account.

    Regards,
    Julia
    To which I responded:
    ???
How did I violate the Terms of Service???
I still haven't heard back. The only opening for an infraction I can find in Fiverr's Terms of Service (which is heavily slanted toward controlling the gig seller) is the following clause:

"Posting or sending adult, illegal, rude, abusive, improper, copyright protected, promotional, spam, violent, nonsense or any uncool stuff is strictly prohibited. Doing so will get your account blocked permanently."

Sooo... was I "improper", asking for "nonsense" or just being "uncool"? It's hard to say. With terms as vague as these, Fiverr can do whatever they want, really.

Fiverr is well aware of their shady business practices and they work daily to protect the little con empire they are creating for themselves. They are really a great study on how easily we trust a well-established name and how easily that trust can be grossly abused.

    Just slimey.

Of course they can do what they want - it's their site.

You tried to use Fiverr to hire someone to write about "scams on Fiverr" - so I'd say "uncool" may be a match. Why would they want a customer who seems intent on dissing their business model?

Large sites like Fiverr and the WF have disgruntled former members who try to make trouble - that alone could make the people there sensitive to such a topic request. It's too bad - but understandable.

        Thanks, kay.

Actually, I was being very naive, obviously. I was still operating under the impression Fiverr was a large, clumsy, "freedom of speech"-aware, American company that would be out of touch with (or keenly disinterested by) job requests happening under their noses. They are either monitoring gigs and emails for keywords (which I supplied the seller as part of the gig requirements) or I possibly managed to select a seller who actually works for Fiverr (or one of their partners operating within the Fiverr site.)

If standing up for consumer protection and ethical business practices is being "disgruntled", I am indeed. ;o]

The "freedom of speech" argument gets a lot of people in trouble.

Two friends of mind lost $60-70k a year jobs in the past two years when they went on FB and talked trash about their employer. Both of them tried to use the freedom of speech argument when called on the carpet - didn't work.

You have the freedom to post about Fiverr scams (and I'm sure there are quite a few of those) - but it was an "oops" to use Fiverr to get your content.

Guess you should have used elance for that one. Who knew?

Another thing not to offer on Fiverr--Don't offer to post gigs for people on other gig sites. That went over like a lead balloon for me. My account didn't get banned, but my service was promptly denied.
