Bought a New Domain Name!

Hey Warriors,

I just purchased a new domain name and would like some feedback on it if possible.

The domain is
koonah.com

Any thoughts or suggestions on this one? I don't think the word actually means anything but it is a fun, catchy six letter domain. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Some advice if I may, build a blueprint on what you're going to do before you buy a domain.

Sounds like the name of an exotic animal of some kind. Perhaps you could invent a fictitious animal with superpowers that watches over an imaginary kingdom.

Or make up a game that people can play called koonah. Or once you have the above fictitious animal designed, create a cartoon strip to use as a promotion for some products like pet products.

I am just kicking out crazy ideas. Maybe some other warriors can add to this and come up with something rational. Who knows. Good luck!!

That's what I was thinking. But if it was for branding it almost doesn't matter.

don't register a domain just because it is catchy.
    your domain is probably useless.
first decide what you want your domain for and then register a new domain which contains some keywords.

It does rhyme with bruna, buena, duna, hoonah, kuna, luna, oona, una and tuna. I am not sure that is any help. Your domain is a dot-com which is preferred by most. It is short at 6 letters and that is usually easier to remember than long ones. I think you should decide on the product first, research the best keywords for that product, then get a dot-com domain that has a keyword in it.

I agree with some of the comments here that it sounds like a fun jungle game little kids can play on their iPads. Make it into an app and collect the monthly revenue or sell it for a profit.

      I agree with this reaction.

In my understanding, if you know various ways to drive traffic to your website, it isn't fatal to pick a domain name outside the realm of popular keywords. If you have a solid website with solid branding, a catchy domain name is better than having your keyword in there.

Unless you are creating MFA sites, of course.

To me it makes me think of Kahoona as in "the big kahoona"

I to think you should not just buy a domain that you have no idea what to do with it or have no idea if you can even do anything with it.

On the other hand I do like the idea of some kind of kids ipad app with that name as it does seem catchy but I do not know what other uses you can come up with for it.

Even though you kinda went backwards in the process of a domain name, the sky is the limit what you can do with it. You can make it a cool game app. Make it a game on facebook!

gmil88...while I too almost always agree that researching keywords, having a plan, and buying relevant (or exact match) domains is generally a safer bet, I'd like to add that the creative process is different for everyone.

Therefore, as a writer, artist, and explorer of sort myself....I have created some of my greatest writings and sketches around a single word or basic shape on a mere whim, long before ever writing a single chapter or having a clue what it would later become.

IMO, the creative process begins with a seed (idea) and grows from there. It's how you nurture and tend to it (the planning process) that determines if it grows or withers. With the right conditions, disciplined effort, like finding rich soil...a simple seed can produce nourishment for millions!

With that said, one has to remember several of the webs greatest domain names were
completely unknown, until the great minds behind them branded them into iconic giants like; Google, Twitter, Facebook, Squidoo, Blogger, YouTube, Skype, etc....so who knows, you may build upon a simple idea/game/social site for "Koonah" that outweighs the risk, and feeds the masses.

I'm not sure there is a right or wrong way, just believe in what it is you put your mind to, and who knows....you might hit a "home-run", look at "sham wow"...Dyson vacuums, I mean really, these idea's were "far out" and they took flight.

    All the Best,

Hey I am just adding cream on top of what others have said; Koonah can be a mix of arcade games of past like pacman, race, aliens etc with a new twist. The game will rule on the iphone/ipad. You will need a game developer to come up with a concept. But if you don't have such resources, then you may create the idea and sell it to some1. I'm sure there will be many here interested working in such idea

It is catchy so it seems like you could do well with some creativity. The game idea seems great. You could look at an iPad app, a Facebook app, a flash game, anything like that.

Maybe some kind of physical children's game or story book?

Actually, it makes me think of the type of site I would go to to find children's books. Just another idea.

I'm more of a planner and strategy is an important part of the process for me.

To buy a domain name, and then wonder what to do with it is having the cart before the horse.

Being that I spent decades in the music industry as both a sound engineer and a songwriter, rhymes are important to me, but to buy a domain because it may rhyme with something is far from what I'd call a good plan.

If you just want to have fun, then that's perfectly fine, and a great thing to do in your spare time. However, if you are serious about IM and serious about making money out of it, I'd be more inclined to look at educating within the field and researching exactly what you plan on doing to bring it to successful levels.

    Getting back to fun.

If that's the goal, then I'll stop here and let you have as much of that as you can, while you can. Fun is hugely important in life, and we should all have more of it, but when it gets down to serious planning and strategy, it takes more than fun to make your financial dreams come true.
