Disable specific plugins on pages in Wordpress

So when you activate a plugin in Wordpress it embeds the CSS and Javascript in every page! Headspace2 specifically addressed this by having this option: 'Page-specific plugins – have plugins that run only on specific pages!'

This is solves the problem but it does not appear that the developer is supporting this plugin anymore and it does not seem to work on the most current version of Wordpress, Wordpress 3.1.4.

I can make my WordPress site run so much faster if it didn't have to load unnecessary plugin data. If I have a contact form plugin, I only need it running on the contact page, not every page. I have BuddyPress running on a subpage of my WordPress multisite. It loads all the BuddyPress script on the homepage, thus slowing my site down.

Is there any alternative?
