The debate about Squidoo vs Hubpages has been raging and it appears Squidoo wins hands down in terms of its marketing muscle. However, does anyone know if the Squidoo lens building process can be automated or whether there is a reputable service or software out there to minimise much of the associated 'grunt work'.

Any ideas, recommendations, insights welcome.

Regards

Squidoo founder Seth Godin does not want your squidoo pages to be automated.

But there nothing stopping your from simply copying and pasting content into a lens and then taking the RSS url and pinging it.

You could have a lens ready in 5 minutes.

Also use good tags with your lens and you'll get internal views of your lens.

There's a couple good softwares that help you select the best tags for your lens.

Only 550 or so sites receive more traffic than Squidoo, so they're good people to know and use in your marketing efforts.

There's a good and cheap work called "the 5 minute traffic trick" that will help you explode your lens views.

Hub pages is making it harder and harder to extract traffic at their community as they claim they don't like pages that are too promotional.

    But...

You can always slap up basically the same content used for your Squidoo page and then ping it also.

Just change the headline and a bit of the body and you're good to go.

    Hope This Helps!

    Qbiz,

If you want your lenses to actually convert, please don't slap anything together, use any 5-minute traffic tricks, or cut and paste bad content.

    None of that works.

That's why some lensmasters make good money creating lenses for IMs who don't have the time or talent to do it. Squidoo lenses are good internet real estate; don't throw up a cheap housing project. Build solid structures that readers will find valuable.

Or pay someone else to do it.

Your reputation is on the line...

Don't use an automated tool - they're looking for them and are shutting down entire accounts (ie: you lose your hard work) if they find it. That said, use the Quickbuilder to create the lens here: Squidoo : QuickBuilder and then from the right side of your workshop now you can add your modules and reorder them - faster than the old way.

If you get to Giant Squid status (50 good lenses), you will get a template which is SO wonderful. We (Lewis and I) have several - one for single lenses, one for our VIP customers, a few for specific clients who order 100 lenses at a time from us in bulk, etc. It's a HUGE timesaver because then all you do is plug in the content, save, and publish!

Squidoo lenses are so easy to create, I can't imagine why anyone would want to try automated creation. It takes only a few minutes to use the setups (Lens Creation) and get your basic template in place. Everything after that is content and if you're trying to provide something useful, automation certainly isn't the way to go.

Of course you can fill a lens with useless bulk just as easily as you can with a conventional webpage. But if you want people to actually read it, you have to provide something that has genuine value - not just verbiage.

Thanks for the comments. My aim is to provide worthwhile quality content of value on my pages and as a Squidoo neophyte I see now that lenses can be relatively simple to create. Thanks TiffanyDow for the Quickbuilder tip.
