Looking to get some guidance on the competition for a keyword. If I were to build a site around this keyword, would monetize w/Amazon. The 1st page competition are all the major online retailers: amazon, target, ebay etc so there is no top level domain centered around the keyword. Most have 0 backlinks pointing to the page, and 5 of the pages have PR of 0.

According to Market Samurai, 7 of the 10 results are optimized for the keyword (keyword in URL, title, description, and head) and this is what has me second guessing myself. These are only single pages though and I want to build a site that will have at least 15 pages of content, so I am thinking that should help me immensely, but would be very grateful for some insight.

    Hi there,

Have you tried doing intitle and inurl commands? That should give you an approximation of the quantity of competing pages.

However, it seems to me you are more concerned about the quality of the competition. If there are no keyword anchored backlinks to the pages, that is a very good sign, because off-page SEO means much more than on-page (which they apparently do have).

I'd still do some research to find out what the intent and relevance of those pages actually is, and if I think I can top them - I'd go for it

    Good luck!
