In following Misako's example, I'll give away one of my very, very best, very hidden link building techniques as a new year's gift to you all. Using this technique, you can literally get thousands of legit backlinks for under $30. Here's how to do it. Step 1: Head over to FreshDrop.net Get yourself acquainted with the interface. This is an amazing site for buying expired domains. Learn the various filters on the right hand side. The most important filters I use are Page Rank and "Fake." Generally, I search only for domains that are PR3 and above that do not have fake Page Rank. Step 2: Sort by Links Under the columns, YBL and GBL stand for "Yahoo Backlinks" and "Google Backlinks" respectively. Getting links in Yahoo is much easier than Google. A website with a lot of links might have 5,000 links in Yahoo and only 400 in Google. This is because Google is much pickier about what they consider links. One website with 100 pages that link to a webpage in Yahoo might be 100 links, but in Google that's only 1 link. Whichever you use to gauge, it's still a great way to assess how many links the website has. Generally, I look for PR3+ domains that have a decent amount of links coming in that aren't too expensive. Step 3: Purchase a Domain with Incoming Links Most of these domains will go for under $30, even PR4 domains. Purchase one such domain. Step 4: Setup a 301 Redirect Once you get control of your domain (which takes about 1 week,) setup a 301 redirect to the page you want to build links for. This effectively transfers all the links and Page Rank from the previous page to your new page. In other words, you just bought a PR4 website, took all it's links and Page Rank and redirected it to your site for under $30. Awesome or what? Bonus Step: Search for Your Niche Most people don't realize that Freshdrop allows you to search within the domain as well. Under domain criteria on the right, you'll see "Domain Includes." Inside "Contains," just enter your niche. For example, if you enter "acne" it will only display domains that contain acne. This gives you a better chance of snatching up a domain that's related to your niche. ---------------- As you can tell, this is a very "super secret" technique that you can do a lot of damage with. I definitely didn't want this technique to get out too much, but hey, it's New Year's. I've got so much from this forum, it's really time for me to start giving back =) Best wishes to you all, - Derek Pankaew |

Great tip. I always wondered - what would happen if you have a PR 1 domain and you redirect a PR 4 to it? How would it affect the PR of the PR 1 domain?

You know, I honestly have no idea. The PR is determined by a lot of factors, incoming links being one of the big ones. However, the age of the domain is also an important factor. I'd imagine that redirecting a PR4 to a PR1 would have a big impact on the PR1 domain. However, it could also damage the PR1's rankings, as Google doesn't like it when new sites suddenly get a huge influx of links. If you already have 10,000 backlinks and you suddenly get 5000 backlinks, Google thinks that's great. If you have 10 backlinks and you suddenly get 5000 backlinks, Google tends to frown. No way to know except testing it =) |
