Is there something wrong with clickbank?

Any affiliates notice their clickbank accounts being affected in recent weeks/months in term of conversions and sales (ie. you drive the same amount of traffic that used to convert but now doesn't)?

Probably the bad economy + holidays causing it? I noticed some niches with less sales between June and September, each and every year.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

As Chris says, some niches are seasonal. Many are, I think - just to varying degrees.

However, there are many Clickbank affiliates here who have had numerous experiences of a sudden drastic drop in sales relative to order-form submissions (not just impressions), which is quickly and 'conveniently' rectified by their swapping out existing affiliate links with new ones tied to a fresh affiliate account.

Some here state this is nothing more than coincidence (though they have no proof of that, either), but some vendors themselves have reported that during these periods, their own income rises quite sharply as they instead appear to receive the commissions that would otherwise normally have been paid out to an affiliate.

In other words, sales that are affiliate-referred suddenly become "direct sales" out of some apparent malfunction with Clickbank's cookie/referral-tracking system. The vendor cashes in and the affiliate loses out, despite having referred the sale.

So this is something additional to consider, though I'm not alleging that this is necessarily what's going on here ... more than likely it is just seasonal fluctuation.

I have also seen this exact problem, from the vendor side and the affiliate side. From the vendor side, I noticed that my product, which has absolutely no brand name recognition, and that I have not promoted AT ALL... is getting some direct sales. Whereas my affiliates are bringing in tons of hops with very few conversions... I would say the direct sales vs affiliate sales is at 50-50 right now.... which doesn't make any sense since I have done 0 promotion.

Also, my affiliate account promoting other products has had over 1,000 hops recently with only 2 conversions. Now, not to toot my own horn, but I am a fantastic copywriter.... my sales copy is prime on all of my reviews, etc. I know traffic is the most important factor, but even with a small amount of traffic, if amazing salescopy like this can't get conversions...how does the average joe at copywriting make money with clickbank?

The thing about it is, most of the products I have been promoting lately have been trial offers... as in the person enters their email and then MAYBE they convert into a buyer further down the road... usualy within a 30 day period. I know Clickbank cookies store for 60 days....

Yet only 2 of those 1,000 people to read my 1st class copy (COPY SELLING A "trial" product) resulted in buyers. And this is strange because these trial offers usually convert great if the offer is good, and I always make sure the offer is very solid.

I have now taken your advice to open up a new affiliate account and redirect all my links. I will come back here and post my results.

I think there is a serious problem with Clickbank....I believe their cookie storage system may be faulty....for me it seems that the only affiliate conversions that show up are from people who land on a page and immediately purchase the product.

Do you think it could be an issue with new browsers? I know Firefox has been going HAM on updates.... making new Firefox versions so fast that most addons are outdated within weeks, etc.

As I said, I will do more testing. If this is true, I may be out a lot of money from Clickbank.... which isn't cool. I will definitely need some guidance on this one guys... thanks =)

Well its depend upon the product and their consumer, basically their is very less sale in the the summer because people are less interest in the buying through internet. its depend upon the season and product quality also.

I am a vendor and I have also noticed a sudden drop in conversion. I am just gobsmacked, this seems statistically impossible, I went from 1.5% to 0.5% conversion. The sample is around 1000 clicks from teh same source and it still might be a coincidence, but I have never seen anything like it.

Any vendors here saw anything similar?

Sort of the opposite for me. While I am a vendor and only have a few affiliates (just started using affiliates), I had a few days recently where conversions were over 10%. So for me, it seems to be going up. I am in the field on PC Gaming (World of Warcraft related). Maybe gamers are always buying game-related items despite the condition of the economy?

    Relax.

Nothings wrong per se. Just the normal cycles of the sales process online. It's summer and people are busy doing other things like hanging out in the sun. Your sales are also affected by the niche you're in and time of year, etc.

Watch for another 2-3 months. If sales are still low, then you have a downward trend to be concerned about.

But didn't the OP start off by saying drop in sales with the same traffic? Maybe I missed something, but if the same number of people are coming into their store, but less are buying, busy doing other things shouldn't come into it I would think.
