Airplane Banner Advertising

Hey guys, I'm just getting back to New York because I was on vacation with my family on a trip to Cleveland. We saw the Yankees lose on the 4th of July yesterday. By the way Nick Swisher rocks.

But anyway I saw an airplane advertising Geico on a banner circling Progressive field, and I was wondering if any of you warriors have any experience with AIRPLANE banner ads, and their effectiveness. There is no way I would consider doing this unless I had a massive budget, but I thought it would be a fun question to shoot at you guys.

It would be nice - I'm also from NY and I wonder how much money it will cost to do one of those ads. I know some ads on Yankee stadium such as the banners can cost up to $500,000 just for one banner.

It certainly get you to look...though it would be diffucult to advertise IM products there. Prehaps an ad for a hot bod contest at the local beach bar might work!

And I am afraid* you'll be kicked out if you continue to make one-liner, useless "contributions"...

David Iago had great luck with this, now that you mention it, and it's probably cheaper than you think. Short-tail exact-match domain name with .info at the end worked best for him, as I recall.

I remember being in Cali and going to the beach and they would have a lot of airplanes with banners advertising things--mostly movies it would seem. Seems like a waste of money in my opinion, but if you have a BRANDING budget, you might as well incorporate it in.

You are correct (as usual) Caliban. I do quite a bit of banner tow advertising. It's extremely affordable. I have used banners to promote Powersports CPA offers, MP3 DL CPA's, chainsaw parts, and some other stuff. My best ROI with this method is 1100% and my worst is 225%. I detail this method in my Offline Success Puzzle product. If anybody wants to know more and hasn't picked that up-let me know how I can help.-Dave

Wow! Glad to see we have a member who's utilized this form of advertising.

Where does the airplane fly over? Do you get to choose the path?

How long is it in the air for? Care to share typical costs?

I find it amazing you were able to have such an amazing ROI advertising those products.

I'm not sure how effective airplane banners are these day's. The problem is you have to get your text big enough for the people to see, how the heck are you going to put a call to action on it? Airplane banners are more on the lines of "Branding" for your company.

Here are a couple sites you could seek more information about rates:

    nationalskyads.com

My best ROI came from a "fly" I did over an ATV Fair. I used nothing on the banner but the domain cheap-atv-parts.info and set it to redirect to a CPA offer for a national online powersports parts house. They were paying 8% com. and cookied the users browser so I made com. on any sale within the next 45 days. I wound up doing almost $4500 total.

I actually wound up getting that tow for free. I had them do 2 fly's on Saterday and 2 on Sunday. This should have cost about $350 but I wound up trading them some website design instead.

I used a company to fly in New York. It was the same company that flew the "Thanks For The Down Grade" banner in the summertime that was all over the news. I found them by searching fly signs aerial advertising on Google or face book. They were very helpful and provided a great service at a reasonable rate. Highly recommend them.

Those little banner towing aircraft can be rented for about $150 per hour PLUS the banner ROUGHLY.

The banner has to be made up separately and the company towing them has to be licensed to do so but prices shouldnt vary too wildly.

From what i recall, they seem to be better for a call to action type ad or an ad that motivates someone to do something quite quickly... like flying along the beach during spring break with a banner that says "Happy Hour All Day At The Driftwood"

If youre going to do it at an event, its best to do it in twice, once just after the event has started, when all seats are occupied and once again just before the event ends.

After a Euro MP in the UK crashed whilst trying to banner tow, its not soooo easy but can still be done but we pay stupid prices over here for everything.... like $8.20 a gallon for gas :-((

      Peace

      GW

I remember seeing a eyewear company do airplane banner, but made their writing funny.

I cant remember what it said, something like "if this writing is fuzzy you need glasses"

Guess I do not need them LOL ha ha LOL.
