Google to close down Blogger/Blogspot

I have several dozen affiliate blogs on blogspot. What do I do now? I spent good money to outsourcers to build backlinks to those money earning blogs.

Read the story again. It says Google is changing the name, not closing it down.

But perhaps this has prompted you to consider moving some or all of your money sites to a platform where you have more control over such potential events.

They aren't technically going anywhere. They are simply being renamed.

Now, if your links are pointing to a Blogger domain, then I suppose it could be a problem, but not an insurmontable one.

There is always a chance that Google will set up an automatic redirect for everybody, or they may phase it out, giving you time to build up traffic again.

However, the real lesson (albeit a pricey one) is to not rely on a 3rd party for your income. If you had been sending traffic to your own domain - even if it was redirecting to Blogger sites - you could simply switch all of them over.

    All the best,
    Michael

I'm guessing that Google will just use a redirect and you won't have anything to worry about, either from a tech or an SEO point of view.

My guess is that Google is well aware of this issue, and will have some redirect in place so as not to lose the traffic as they want the traffic as well as you. A lot of these blogs are monitized with AdSense.

But this should be a lesson to you that when you place your income source under the control of someone else, you run the chance of it being taken away from you.

Re-directs will be in place. Blogger.com is a very nice earner for Google and the last thing they will want is a drop in traffic. That said back-up you content
