Hasn't that ship already sailed? Sure Paypal custoemr service is awful, they have their own rules and don't give a £$%^ about you but haven't they already taken too much of the market?

In today's world of unpredictable Venture Capital allocation; that mentality is what's sailed. It's been readily proven by the sudden and unmitigated rise of Google with both Yahoo & MSN in the mix.

Where there's capital; there's chance. American Express has capital.

Not to mention the sudden unmitigated rise of Facebook with MySpace in the mix.

It was easy enough to sign up for Serve. Easier to upgrade and verify an account than with PayPal.

A good way to punish PayPal, err, force better customer service, is to start opening and using competing accounts. Such as Serve.

Coming next .... clearXchange to similarly compete with PayPal - offered by Chase, BOFA, and Wells Fargo.

          .

clearXchange is more of a C2C money movement service; banks trying to take that part of the business & market share away from the 3rd parties like PayPal. Certainly not a direct competitor.

I think its a cool service, though... same as PopMoney.

I'm very much enamored with Square; although, at this point it does CNP transactions no real good. Just think its one of the coolest things to come out of the new mobile payments craze.

When Google started business in 1998, some wondered why they would try to enter that marketplace because Yahoo and AltaVista dominated search.
