Anyone notice the new Fiverr feature?

Looks like Fiverr is taking things up another notch by offering "Fiverr Extras". I just noticed this on a regular gig that I order. Pretty cool if you ask me, and now there is an even larger opportunity to earn some SERIOUS cash on Fiverr by offering these extras on each gig. I believe you can also name your price for the extras, too.

If any of you are Fiverr providers, I would definitely take advantage of it. It's like a built-in upsell feature located directly on the gig itself. Great way to list related items and offer them in a bundle package.

I am not seeing how to use this feature. I tried editing a couple of my gigs but I don't see any options related to Fiverr extras. I also haven't saw it offered on other gigs yet. It will be a great feature to increase income for sure.

I jumped the gun on this one too quick - it appears that it's only for top rated sellers at this point. So, if you're a top rated seller, be prepared to squeeze even more cash out of every gig that you have on there.

Oh I see. No, I'm not a top rated seller yet even though I've had almost 80 orders and 100% feedback. I did manage to find the extra section on a featured gig. Hopefully they will extend that to other sellers soon.

It will be interesting to see if this feature will eventually be extended to 'regular', non-top-seller, Fiverr sellers, eventually.

On a side note, has anyone heard anything about when Fiverr plans to come out of "Beta"?

I'm withholding judgment on Gig Extras. While it's very nice to have an upsell avenue, I'm wondering how many buyers will take the plunge on a first purchase. Repeat buyers seem more likely prospects. They'll have seen the quality of your work.

Very much agree. There's so many flaky vendors on Fiverr, I think most buyers will tiptoe in and test the water for five bucks, before taking an upsell.

related they may come back to you and take you up on your next special

Either way, I think it's an excellent addition for those who are top rated sellers and provide a lot of value. Now they can finally reap more of the rewards for providing a little something extra.

I think you're right about this. I'm not a fiverr vendor, but I'm a fairly big user. I'm very, very careful about using new service providers. There are not a few scammers and flakes on fiverr. Having said that, I would definitely use the extras the 2nd or 3rd time around, if it was something I needed.

I have to 2nd (or is it 3rd) that. I'm a buyer/user on Fiverr and I wouldn't upgrade until I've tested the service once. It I'm happy I buy again. I also look to see if the seller has had multiple orders from the same buyer when purchasing. I take that as a good sign!

Perhaps they could have a link that says "Have you purchased this gig before?"...and, upon clicking "yes", it would expand to the gig extras and say "This seller has decided to ONLY make these additional features available to YOU..."

Would take some brainstorming to determine the best approach to this...but, something like this could be highly effective....

            thoughts?

Wouldn't it be the same as going into your purchase history and clicking on that gig (as if you were a first-time buyer anyway) to reveal the extra features? Or, are you referring to only selecting the "extras" to purchase, rather than purchasing another gig entirely?

As far as I can tell EVERYONE can see the upsells/Gig-extras of the top-rated sellers...

                fluffy said THIS:

From a marketing standpoint, it 'may' be better for Fiverr to structure its site to hone in more on hammering the sale with repeat buyers....a way to do that effectively may be to keep the fiverr extras hidden, only to be revealed when a person validates, by clicking "Yes, I have purchased from this seller before"....and, being offered something "Exclusive" to them....

                People like feeling unique....

Besides, most first time buyers might not buy the extra anyway.
                {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[4213302].message }}
                • Fiverr already knows if you've bought the gig before. Often (but not consistently) it will ask if you're aware you've already purchased this gig.

Exclusivity is a great selling tactic but I've found it works better in a more intimate environment such as a mailing list. Works too well, actually. You IM guys sell digital products you can replicate endlessly but I have actual physical goods. And when I sell out of something I touted as an "exclusive offer" I hear no end of complaining. Sure, it was exclusive...to a mailing list of 5,000 people.

I've made money on fiverr. It's all about having something that people want to buy. Just look at what the top rated sellers are selling and try to match that.

My idea was founded in simply not displaying the Gig Extras, at all, to new potential customers...

    When you said this....

"While it's very nice to have an upsell avenue, I'm wondering how many buyers will take the plunge on a first purchase. Repeat buyers seem more likely prospects."

It seemed like we were both on the same page in thinking that it's not really even effective to display the fiverr gig extras to those new customers.

Instead, the extras could only be revealed if one clicks a "yes" box when asked "Have you purchased this gig before?"....

It WOULD be 100% exclusive to them, because those repeat buyers would be the only one that the gig extra would be revealed to. If someone says they haven't purchased before, then the gig extra wouldn't be revealed.

either way it is a great addition to fiverr. although, once I find a good vendor, I tend to use them again and the spend goes up accordingly.

I have often used other sites like guru, elance and others to be let down. Finding good, reliable people is not easy. fiverr is fast and easy to use and test out more vendors and at an affordable price.

I welcome any new features.. I love fiverr :-)

Very interesting indeed! This is the sorta thing that Fiverr has needed for a while. I've always thought Fiverr was a little to basic to make a decent income with. Now with this feature you could begin to make some nice income, without the hassle of dealing with upsells yourself.

Just asked Fiverr customer support about this "Fiverr Extra" thing. They told that they put these on the gigs which has a good feedback percent and which are noticed by editors/reviewers.

I'm sure this feature was added to capture and profit from sales made outside of the site. Although it's against the rules, a lot of Fiverr vendors solicit higher priced sales off the site because 5 bucks just isn't that profitable.

Smart move on their part. Not only are they going to make more money off of those extras, but sellers are working harder to get the upgrade to Top Seller.

It does certainly provide that inherent incentive to work as hard as one can to become a Top Seller. For as much as I would like to see this extended to regular vendors, I do think that incentive is necessary....may be one reason why they may never extend it....will be interesting to see what they decide to do...

I think we are going to be seeing some changes in Fiverr in the near future as most people are using it for IM purposes and the owner/s must be realising that his site should mirror what is happening in the IM world... ie: upsells, repeat business odel, etc

        Definitely, SuccessMarketer,

A few days ago, I looked into just about every category on Fiverr. Even though there are a small handful of gigs that offer things like singing 'happy birthday', I would say that 90%+ of them can have at least some application to promotion/marketing/advertising. Even those gigs like having someone rant can be used for business purposes. The site is great, but I still think they could do some additional things to capture sale.

Fiverr can be a great source if income. All of my gigs take 0 time once they are set up. You just need to know how to use it.

It is also a great way to get testimonials when providing services or for providing services you can do quickly.

Personally, I spent way too much time in the gift section. I've bought so many t-shirts and I got an awesome light up lightsaber hairpin.
