What information To Give Accountant

So I decided I want to outsource my accounting. Im not sure what I am comfortable giving access to. Those of you who outsource this, what do you give them and how is your experience with outsourcing this?

Can you be a bit more specific about what you mean by Accounting?

Just doing your taxes, keeping track of finances, actually paying people, etc...

Basically keeping track of my sells and expenses. That information is on my income statements but not sure if it's secure giving people access to those that I don't personally know. But yea it's basically for taxes, and business finances.

You would give your accountant all your business records and they would figure it out for you. Using the word 'outsource' scares me when you are talking about taxes...etc. Most people would call it hiring an accountant. Outsourcing sounds like you are hiring someone from another country to handle your business financial records. In any case, find a local professional to go meet with that you can trust.

Give them everything they ask for. If you're not comfortable, either get a new accountant or do it yourself.

Ask around town to find out who is considered the best accountant in the area. Go to them and explain your needs. After you hire them (don't outsource), give them whatever they ask for. They know what they're doing. Still, it would be smart to keep an eye on them and make sure they are doing their job.

Old school Las Vegas wisdom: Give your accountants 3 sets of books:

    1. The real one

    2. The one you show the IRS

    3. The one you show your wife

This is just a joke...You also show the real one to the IRS...
