domain name usage while being transferred

hi

i would like to transfer a domain name from one hosting company to another and I heard that the transfer takes several days to complete. While this is not a problem, I would like to know if the domain name can still be used during the transfer period.

more specifically, I would like to know if the email boxes associated with it will still receive and show me the emails being sent during this time frame

anybody knows? I've been paying $120/year for 3 years on hosting, only to use the email for this domain name and I just realized that I literally threw money out the window, considering I already have hosting with 2 others companies that I use regularly

so, if you know about this little issue, please let me know.

    Are you transferring an entire site or just transferring a domain to another register??

    If its a domain only, No it will not affect you using it.
    Not sure about your email issue.

    It should all workout fine, I wouldn't worry about.

    Im not 100% sure but I think your email will transfer over too,
    however it's best to ask your the peeps whom you're transferring to.

    They may need the MX records, ask support at the new domain
    register or who ever is email hosting for you.
