Hi all,
This is my first post. As a newcomer i would like to find out if there is anyone out there who could shed some light on starting a Dating site.
Could you point me in the right direction as to the marketing? I when you start from scratch, there are no members.
I was thinking down the lines of freindship and not strictly dating/love and all that stuff.
I would appreciate your comments.

    Starting a dating site from scratch with no members can be done. If this is what you want to do go for it and see what happens. I would do some research and find what you can offer that the other dating sites don't offer.

    I've got a book coming out about internet dating (it's a print one) in a month or so- and when I was researching I was amazed to discover the wide range available

    cna I suggest you visit a dating site in nz to see something that has a HUGE follwoing there? www.nzdating.com is different to many sites I've seen both here in nz and overseas and is very very successful as a model

    Well really, when it comes to friend/dating sites, there are so many ways you could go at it.

    But to make things somewhat easier for you, and you can learn how to control and capture your audience, you should sign up and become an affiliate to a dating site. For example, i'm signed up to Adult Friend Finder, and it's free to become an affiliate, and they already have tons of websites and different niches, and all you have to do is advertise and market for them, and the payouts are good. This is not only help you bring in some quick cash, but also it will help you and teach you how to really bring in people.

    I would start by promoting a dating affiliate program. But if you really want to start your own, there are programs for sale for that purpose. There are even some companies that will let you use their member base with your own brand.

      Well thanks to everyone for your replies. I have returned to the site and was amazed by your kind words of help.
      I will look up all the stuff you have sent and focus on your comments too!
      As i am new to this, niche or niche market fetures a lot, I want to know how to do this.
      Must do a little brain bashing with a little help from my friends!

      May be instead of the traditional dating -site ( with emotional hang-ups and perfect expectaions) Just friends for company...no heavy stuff!

      Hope to learn a lot from this site, Thanks again...But oh, please keep the help line open for little highhopes!

          New Zealand is too small for districts
          but yes- I'd live near to them- nearer than you certainly

      Thankyou again all of you for your information...I realise the extent of information is endless on this site..I feel like a baby in a play pen with respect to ; how to take the first steps, or a trainee chef; the ingredients are all here right? but how do i prepare for the banquet???

      Is there a good and honest step by step starting off guide on this site please? Ref : Choosing your subject, building your site, marketing it, etc? I have looked and found some posts for newbies related but to be honest, most of it goes over my head!
