I just signed up to BrainHost.com for $197 for life

OK, Brain Host is promoting everywhere right now. I signed up as an affiliate myself but I ran into a banner ad on weather.yahoo.com promoting BrainHost for $1 per month for a year so I signed up via that link.

During the signup process they try to upsell you on all kinds of add ons. One of the upsells was lifetime hosting for $197.00 I couldn't say no to that offer. Unlimited Hosting/Domains/Traffic for $197 for LIFE.

The only thing I have to worry about now is if they stick me on a really slow server. But, for that price you can't complain.

I wish I could stick an affiliate link right here ==>

I saved the link to the yahoo $1 per month special. I couldn't find that special in my affiliate page offers anywhere. It must have been a special deal with large traffic providers.

I just thought I'd pass this info along....

For the life of the service that is, not your life or the life of the internet.

Brainhost.com has lots of complaints on complaintsboard.com , I would stay away from this "deal".

I signed up with them this morning. I received a phone call from customer service several minutes ago asking me if I had any questions. I just received an email from her overviewing our phone call with phone/email contact info for their support/customer service.

So far, my experience has been positive. Time will tell....

I just signed up with Brainhost a couple of days ago and wished I had checked other forums first.. From what I have seen so far I am not impressed at all. the first day i tried to sign up and my CC failed.. took care of that with my fraud dept and kept trying to call them multiple times throughout that day so they could hit the card again and get me set up.. I could not get anyone on the phone at all and after a while not even an automated voice system,. it just rang and rang and then hung up.

I emailed the support and asked them to please respond to my questions first BEFORE they tried hitting my card again.. they did not answer the direct questions I had and did hit the card and it went through. since then I have chosen my first domain, reset the DNS settings in godaddy.. verified in godaddy today that the dns settings have taken effect.. been trying since to log in and start the set up of my site to no avail.

Their system has crappy navigation [in my opinion] and each window seems to lead to a different window, and you have to log in again each time.. no clear instructions on where to go [ launchpad ], click on my site link [not working] or brainhost [manage-domain] [refuses my login info and the 'forgot my password link not working at all] and other place with the WP admin at the end of my site.. none are working.

Emailed the support again just a while ago and will see what they come back with. i also tried in vain to reset my password the other day with no success.

Like I said - so far NOT at all impressed. I have set up sites before so know a fair bit. I think I may just dispute the charge with my CC co. and move on to Hostgator.

I have run into the exact problems with brain host. I was sent to the company that had me pay 1.00 then hit my pay pal account with a 47.00 re-accuring charge that I disputed with pay pal and won. you mentioned arguing the 197.00 with CC company can you please tell me how to do that. If possible please e-mail me the advise thank you.

I hate to say it, but a lot of "lifetime offers" come from companies that are having financial difficulties and may or may not go bankrupt.

I waited until Cyber Monday and signed up for HostGator at a ridiculous discount (I think it was something like 75% off) for 2 years. I plan to do the same this year on another hosting account with them.

Do you know which day is? Because I am planning to open another account with them.

I love everything in hostgator because I am a member for more than 4 years and all is perfect.

You got suckered. You don't even have to do the research on brainhost to figure out that something like that is just not sustainable.

Lifetime hosting is a crap business model unless you intend to pump and dump.
    Expect bad things

Ah, yea, that is something in the software business too. We realized that after a couple of years we could only offer free support for a limited time or after a while it just didn't work!

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.
