Squeeze Page Question

Hi All,

I'm setting up an seo campaign for a visalus distributor, and he wants 8 different squeeze pages, each relating to different target markets, for example, 1 page for overweight people, one page for multilevel marketers, 1 page focused on how affordable it is, etc.

My (admittedly miniscule) understanding of squeeze page theory is that a good squeeze page should contain a single link out (to the desired action for that page).

However, it also occurs to me that there's spill-over appeal here. For example, the page which focuses on the benefits of weight loss might be enhanced by linking to the page about how affordable it is, etc.

I'm wondering if this would help close the sell for a reader who wasn't quite sold on the weight loss page but might be willing to investigate pricing.

Or, should I just remain fanatically disciplined and not link the pages together at all?

Any thoughts?

Thanks folks - you're the best!

    Hey Larry,

If you see some good connections to make between related products then you may have some great opportunities available for further sales. If I were you I would start with the simple model that you have described with the single landing pages going to one specific location. Then build up a second tier of landing pages which have the related content. Once you have both systems in place, use something like the Google Website Optimizer to drive traffic to both landing pages and test which one converts better for you. Also, you could use the related product landing pages as an upsell after a new customer has made the first purchase.

Probably, it is about your understanding... (I am just wondering, as always, why people accept jobs they don't understand...)

You didn't mention the client saying that the 8 different squeeze pages should be linked.
A squeeze page is NOT a sales page - it is about getting leads/subscribers = "squeeze out" their name + email, i.e. make them to subscribe to a list.

A squeeze page has one single goal (and an optin form): to get them subscribed. Nothing else.

    This is incorrect, actually.

A squeeze page - typically - should not contain a link out at all.

A squeeze page is a page with a prominently incentivised opt-in (form for submission with a box for "email address" and other boxes are optional) and no other content. The "desired action" is for the visitor to input their email address. Period.

Thanks all for the replies and the vocabulary lesson - let me amend my question by restating that these, then, are sales pages and not squeeze pages - same question but different name for the pages - link to each other or no?

I may be wrong (being new to this) can't you use the squeeze page to get the information of coarse and after they enter their information they are automatically linked to your thank you page....why not use you prices page in place of the thank you page ( if you're not already doing that)

        I hope this helped......?

No offense but I really feel sorry for the guy that hired you as a "marketing expert" to make his websites.

Sales pages are very similar to squeeze pages regarding their purpose: they must have a call to only one single action - BUY NOW!

Letting the visitor to wonder around on different sales pages... as quite an idiotic idea.

I assume the distributor knows more about his traffic than you do - perhaps he has 8 different but very targeted traffic sources. The visitors coming from different sources should see ONLY ONE sales page: with the copy that is targeting their own pain!

E.g. (since I have no idea what your product does, I will use a different example) - if you target my generation = aging babyboomers, who can see 5 miles far but cannot read anything that is in their hand but like to read AND you offer a "pill" that would fix this... I don't care how affordable is, just let me buy it. Now, let's say the pill distributor will advertize on book-seller sites, library sites, in book stores etc. "hey, Boomers, here's how to fix your eyesight!" - What do you get as traffic? Targeted demographics with an eye problem. They are not interested how affordable it is... or not. They want to see again, to be able to read without glasses.

I suggest you quickly outsource this job to a knowledgeable partner before your client finds this thread, LOL

    No don't link the pages.

The whole point of having several different pages is to have different offers that are each highly targeted to the interests of the viewer.

OK, what you have in mind would be more along the lines of a minisite or microsite. A single site made up of several pages with information relating to the same topic or product. If done properly each individual page is also acting as a sales or squeeze page in its own right.

If it were a weight loss product you could have your landing page, a benefits of the product page, a results and testimonials page etc... essentially a bunch of pages all promoting the same product from different angles.

You see them more often in non-MMO niches. I rarely see them mentioned or used by the WF faithful.

If your client is targeting 8 different market profiles then ideally you would have more than 8 pages. Not for the purpose of linking to each other but for A/B testing. Technically you could do this by making changes to one page and closely tracking your results. But with 8 different targets this would take a very long time. If you haven't created a sales page before then not having them done by a professional would be a disservice to your client. Your client is not going to care how they got done as long as they produce.

    Hi Larry,

A squeeze page has one function...to funnel the visitor into your opt-in list. Any element whether it be external links or other elements that give the user an option outside of completing an optin doesn't belong on a squeeze page. Hope that helps mate.
