question for americans in dating niche

I have a print book due out that I was going to market a little online- its cute and its funny but I wonder if it's too risque for an american audience
it's about internet dating- but it includes alot of dates that went wrong - and many of those involve funny or terrible sexual encounters
I'm not american and I don't want to offend- it's not a book that I would term as adult- in nz its counted as just a self help book and there ar eno wanrings on it

any advice?

    any advice?
Get a new identity, go into hiding for a while some time before Valentine's day and grab a decent man quick and marry him - because once the book is out, men are going to be scared to date you...

        Hi Rachel,

is that a marriage prposal honey?
'Marriage' is one of those funny magic words - regardless of how it is used, it's simple presence in a sentence spoken by a man can cause women to read that sentence in a way that appears to suggest the use of the above retort as an appropriate response. Hence, the preference of men to avoid this uncomfortable, and sometimes costly occurrence by using the phrase 'm-word' instead.

You know me well enough to know that my use of the word 'decent' was deliberate in order to impose self-exclusion from the dangerous effects of the magic word.

many of the really bad stories are not mine
Nice to see you're maintaining a balance by sharing the experiences of the men as well.

IMO, I don't think American folks will be offended. Just pick up a copy of some of the more popular women's magazines here, and you'll see plenty of sex tips and such (e.g., "Seven Ways to Drive Him Wild in Bed").

    Cheers,

      Hi Rachel,

In all likelihood, you will not draw the wrath of American readers. It depends how you market it. You might want to pick out one particular "racy" segment and use it as a sample chapter. That way, if they don't like it, they just won't buy.

Check out the online bookstores including Amazon to see what kinds of books in your niche are being offered - or any sex-type, human relations niche. Many offer sample chapters.

        Thank you
it's going to be on amazon uk - can americans use that too?
I like the sample chapter idea
though pretty umch all the chapters have a racy story- there are over 100 dates mentioned in the book, only eight are happy, and the vast majority of anecdotes include sex somewhere

internet dating seems ot bring out the dodgy side in people

I had to go back and read that again and place special emphasis on 'of anecdotes' in order to correct the way I read it the first time. Magic words at work again...

That's ok Rachel. You only need one example for people to get the gist of your content. Just pick a really good one.

I believe Americans can buy from Amazon.uk - don't see why not, as long as they can pay online. I'm in Canada and can buy from Amazon.US even though I'm usually automatically directed to Amazon.CA.

is that a marriage prposal honey?
Is that like a public relations posal? Sounds rather kinky to me!

Rachel you are SUCH a flirt and no one is ever going to believe that those stories aren't about you. I guess I will have to get a copy of that before it hits the best selling lists and has to be reprinted!
