The SECRET to success

#1 Find a mentor

#2 Focus

These are the only things you need man. Don't waste your time, energy, and money sifting through all the $17, $37 and $97 products and upsells. Instead find people who have the products or just someone here on the forum who obviously has had the kind of success you hope to soon achieve, contact them and see how much it would cost you to just pay them for what they are doing that's working. That's the best advice I can give you. It's probably not going to be cheap, but it will be much cheaper if you factor in all the time and effort you will save trying to figure it out on your own. This is the absolute fastest path to success and most people that start out online that achieved success very quickly - it was because they had a mentor.

Don't be like me and spend 2 years and thousands of dollars before finally realizing the secrets. Find a mentor, pay them some money, learn what they have to teach you, apply it and focus. And you will achieve success online.

Good luck

Another idea is to offer to work for your mentor for free or for cheap. That way you'll get hands-on experience on the cheap (might even get paid for it), so when you're ready to do your own thing, you'll already know what works and what doesn't work.

The secret to success is strategic action. Research, plan, organize, make daily goals and get the work done.

Having a mentor is great...BUT you should be your own mentor and learn everything you can get your hands on.

Too many posts suggest finding a mentor as a first step. People should not seek a mentor until they are operating their business already, know what direction they want to go, and have made some failures of their own they can learn from.

If you find a good mentor in fact it does not matter what niche you are in, because same things work for most kind of businesses. In order to earn you need to make a sale and it does not matter if you are selling physical product, online tools or informational product. When you get a good training and see how it is done you can sell mostly any thing.

To be able to find a good mentor you first need to know what you want to get out of the mentor. Someone who has never done anything online doesn't know what they want out of a mentor in most cases, they will throw money blindly at them but they shouldn't. If they tried themselves, failed, got some direction they would then know where they want to head and can find a mentor to help them along the way.

Edit: Do you know what my mentor said to me and he was family! Lee, once you have tried for 6 months, failed and know what you want to achieve I'll help you. Atleast after 6 months I could go to him, ok I want a website on x, I want my traffic from Y and monetize by z.

I agree completely. Mentors are great, but you must take action, and only through your actions will you find success.

More often than not, purchasing vendors products and getting onboard their list gives enough insight for a person to do it themselves negating any need for mentoring.

If a person has solid direction they can also base their purchases upon their goals reaping valuable info in the process. Only the lost reap nothing. A person still needs direction to hire a mentor.

I think the biggest mistake people make is assuming that there's some sacred mystical key that the next person will reveal to them which isn't the case.

There's no secrets. There's decision, direction and action.

Another point you should add is possibly the most important one of all...

    ACTION

You can have the best mentor in the world but if you never take any action, you'll fail every time.

    I like FRANK KERNS advice.

    #1 STOP BEING A PUSSY!

    and the most important.

    #2 - TAKE ACTION.

Without following this great advice above, then you will not have a business and hence not be making money.

    Pretty simple really.

They guy is not only a legend, he helped change my life and my business.

Taught me the important of getting off my ass, and building a list.

When you build a list, you have a real business....

When you build a list of buyers, you will never have to work a single day in your life again.

I have always felt that was the best advice frank gave me....and nothing has changed.

No matter all these new WSO's, push button, "im gunna make you rich by next friday", shiney objects, push this and make money, how to make $3000 a day online.......

You must remember, that even since the 1800's and all the great marketers who have come and gone, they have all had businesses and lists of customers. Nothing is more powerful, and building a list worked back in the 1800's even without computers, and it still works today with computers.

The same principles of 200 years ago still apply. There is no use hunting for the perfect way to make money.....the grass is never greener on the otherside, i have been there before...trust me.

The only way to create success, is to build a REAL business, based on REAL customers or customers who are proven to SPEND MONEY WITH YOU in the past.

Test, and refine, and keep doing the things that works, that is what builds real success for you. For me it is building lists, segregating those list and selling to them over and over.

Success comes form testing, and having small successes and then upscaling those small successs to make more money. It simple, but most million dollar companies, and big JV deals, even in the billions of dollars comes down to leverage and having an asset.....which is having a list of prospects.

People who say list building does not work :-

        1) have never tried it.

        2) Do not know how to do it.

        3) you know are not successful.

        4) are probably just money spinners, and not building a REAL SUCCESSFUL business.

Golden words, C. Frank is the best at list building. It's simple. It's common sense. Who is likely to buy from you? People you know. It doesn't take much to develop a relationship. Upside is HUGE!

I believe seeking the guidance of a mentor would be a great step towards success in the internet marketing venture. However, the market's currently flooded with mentors, each with their own areas of expertise, and mind you, their services don't come cheap. In the end, you will still be left on your own, after the mentoring process is done.

For a newbie, I think it would be a good idea first to start on your own. Try and find out everything you wish to know about your chosen niche and build it up. That way, you'll have an idea, firsthand, on how the market works. Once you decide to become a serious entrepreneur, perhaps then you can look around for a suitable mentor to help you out and give you the proper guidance.

I agree totally man. I myself wasted a nice chunk of my life chasing "the dream" and everything changed when I got a mentor...

The cool thing about our society today is you can find successful people and model what they've done to achieve success. So first thing you really have to do is decide what type of success you want, what interests you, and what would you be passionate about...

Then find someone who's done that and model their success. If you're in the internet marketing industry these people most likely have coaching programs for this exact reason.

I totally agree with finding one good mentor and stay focus on taking the required action. It might seems expensive on the short term but it is definitely much cheaper on the long term basis. It will prevent the person from wasting unnecessary time and making unnecessary mistakes. Time to take some action

    The real "Secret" to success:

    1. Get the right, realistic mindset about running a business. There is no one-push-miracle-button solution, success requires hard work, determination, dedication and courage.

    2. Make a plan. If you don't have a proper business plan, you're just taking pot shots in the dark.

    3. Stay focused and learn what you need to run your business and leave the rest, anything else is just distraction.

    4. Once you have a proper plan and know what to do, take the right actions, go out there and do it!

I know many, many people that have become a success WITHOUT a mentor. I have also known many, many people that are still failing and are on their 3rd or 4th mentor. Either the mentors were bad or the individuals did not follow through.

Some very successful people are terrible teachers for a variety of reasons and should simply not offer themselves as mentors.

I am actually not arguing with you but only pointing out that it is not always just those 2 points that bring success. I do agree very much that it is much simpler than most people make it.

I would say research is your best friend when it comes to success,
Research your chosen niche and look for a gap in the market .
Then I would advise to research amazon and other sites where people can leave feedback.
Lokk for products similar to the one you wish to create and see what people are saying about it. In the feedback section people are telling you what they want from a product then it is just a case of giving it to them.

I would say it is also important to have a solid action plan and be careful not to get distracted by Shiny New Object Syndrome. It happened to me when I first started out and I did not have any success until I really focused on a copule of things rather than twenty!

Its true, the major turning point for me with my online business, was meeting a guy who has one of the top royalty free music sites online.

He actually showed me his adSense account and I was blown away, as that was only 1/3 of his income.

That brief mentoring was all I needed to completely focus on expanding DanoSongs to now have literally millions of visitors over 5 years.

Without that brief "mentoring" I never would have had the belief that it was possible. Now I know that belief is everything.

Only with the belief that what you want is possible, can you truly focus and dedicate yourself to action.

Without belief, you hesitate and get distracted by plan B options. Let go of the plan B, open yourself up to a mentor, and just do it : )

      Finally. Someone "get's it".

If someone ran across a mine field and made it safely to the other side, wouldn't you want to know exactly where they stepped?

Anyone that really knows what they're doing as a mentor, ISN'T going to take you seriously if you offer to write a few articles or do some proofreading on the side. I know of mentors that charge $10,000 a month. Work for free? Ain't gonna happen.

So you're suggesting they waste time, money, and develop bad habits along the way? I could take someone from nothing to something in a matter of weeks. If you want to make mistakes, then go ahead.

      "Worst advice, EVER!"

It amazes me STILL, at how many people are more than happy to continually waste time and money stuffing around dibble dabbling trying things out for themselves for years on end, because they're either too stubborn to ask for help, or they're too much of a scrooge, or they're scared of being ripped off.

Everyone that I know that is doing well in this business, ALL have people to help guide them, and they happily pay for it.

you need to be in the business before you find a mentor otherwise finding a mentor wont help.
You only need mentor when you know what you want to achieve.
Whether you have mentor or not, the mot important thing is to take action, without taking actions, even mentor will not be able to help.
