Help With Video Please

Hello Warriors,
I have just produced my first video by creating an article in Powerpoint (saving it as a .pps).

I have converted it into a wmv so that I can upload it.

The only problem is that the links I have inserted into the video (although they appear live when I sroll my cursor over them) will not open.

I wondered if anyone else has been able to overcome this problem.

Many thanks
Ged

Well, they won't. And they especially won't on youtube.

When you transferred to the WMV you basically took pictures of all the slides in the video. Kinda like if I took screenshots of a website with links - should I expect to click on where I see links in the video and for those to open?

Another player with capabilities to add links or a script needs to be used in conjunction with the video in order to get those clickable links.

      Thank you Jill,
I wondered if there was a way around this problem, so thank you for explaining how it works.

Thank you Peter - a good idea there.

Thank you Paul, I could try mp4

    Hi Ged3,

You can add your link into the description of your video on Youtube. The link when clicked would open.

Like Jill mentioned, the video only captures pictures, not words or links.

    Hope it helps.

    Ged,

Where are you planning on hosting your video? Others have suggested Youtube and offered options; but is this something that you want to perhaps host on your own website...?

Also what program are you using to produce them with?

Also, I strongly recommend that you move away from using .wmv formatted videos for online presentation... .mp4 is better; just from a usability point of view. Mind you, Youtube will convert if for you.

If you host the video yourself, you can link the entire video to go anywhere you like when it is clicked.

Youtube use to do this with all their videos so that when people embeded them into websites, if the video were clicked it would link to youtube. Good way for them to get traffic, but something I had always disabled when hosting a youtube video on one of my sites.

To do what you want to do, you would need to look into flash.

If you want your video to be clickable and redirect to a website of your choice, you have to host it either yourself or better on Amazon S3 and you need a player like Easy Video Player or EZS3 (the premium version).

    Best of luck
