Technorati Information

Hi guys

I read a while ago about Technorati being a good place to see how your blog sits in the blogosphere and I have been keeping an eye on one of my sites.

I check it once a week and went in this morning and I had a score of -27 which has thrown me way down in the rankings.

Does anyone have any advice around technorati? Why would I have lost that amount of score? How do I improve my score?

Cheers

Technorati sites gain authority based on the number of links inside the technorati blogosphere. I mean, suppose there are X and Y two sites in Technorati. You have a link for X from Y(Considering you own X and not Y) and also from Z(Not part of Technorati). Then you get authority for having link from Y only. Bigger the authority, higher is the rank.

Now, coming to authority drop, I believe your site or blog was reported numerous times by other Technorati users. That's the only valid reason I can think of. Chances are really lean that numerous sites will stop linking to your site all of a sudden, so negative reports regarding your site is the possible reason.

Thats a shame. The only blogs I linked through comments on were in the same niche and around the same ranking as mine. They were all relating to the content I was commenting on as well, not just a 'nice blog/super work' stuff people get spammed with all the time.

Funnily enough I did link to an internal page on one blog and it didn't get published. How would they know that I found them from technorati though? the author of the site writes for a load of sites.

Ah well, I'll keep working away
