Hey guys,
my question is where or on wich page to put my opt- in form?

It is best to put it after the payment page before they reach the download page (I heard it is against the TOS of Paypal)

or

it is better to put it on the downloadpage with taking the risk that not everbody is sign up???

What is the best what would you do or did on your WSO's

Thanks

Yes, #1 is not liked by PP and annoys everybody. (some people say, IF you tell upfront, i.e. before payment about the optin requirement, it would work...)

#2 could be as good as 85-90% optin, at least in my experience.

It would work for PayPal, I believe.

The reason PayPal don't like it, the other way, is that it's varying the terms of the contract after payment.

If you tell people openly before they pay that they have to opt in, and that product delivery is conditional on that (i.e. make it an openly disclosed part of the contract of sale, so that people can choose either to do, or not to do business with you on those terms) it's difficult to see how anyone could reasonably object, I think?

Last year PayPal closed one of my customers' accounts over this trick, and the reason that they (understandably?) gave was that he was changing the contractual terms after payment.

It's not the compulsory opt-in itself that's the problem: it's the failure to disclose it, to give people the option to decide not to buy on that basis.

Bottom of the download page, and make sure it is optional.

Yep, optional on the download page!

I usually have the optin, explaining what it is there and that it is optional, and then the download link underneath it!

I almost never see it as optional on the download page.

I definitely think it should be, but again I almost never see it. Maybe I'm just buying the wrong WSOs!

No, neither do I, now you mention it.

I'm sure there's no intent to fool people involved in it. I imagine those WSO sellers are simply copying others, not realising that they're actually jeopardising their PayPal accounts if one person ever complains.

Lol . Cracking up here . I think should make it optional at the begining and at the ned of the product and give them a good reason to opt-in . Are you going to send them update on how to do list building on steriods , are you going to show more of what is working for you e.t.c so that they have a good reason to opt-in

You can put a sign-up for on the page before the download page. Just put a direct link to the download at the bottom of the page. Don't make the page too long; just keep everything above the scroll.

Here is a good technique that I have used with good success and it combines the two options mentioned so far...

You make your opt-in after payment but before delivering the product BUT you put a line at the bottom that says "no thanks I don't want updates" which leads them straight to the download page - they rarely don't sign up and you are still legal as it's not "required"...

Also, if you use WSO Pro you can use the integration features and have them automatically added to your buyers list - however when doing this I still employ the same method but I tell them - "Your PayPal email was added to my buyer's list automatically after payment, if you would like to use a different email address please enter it below or "click here to acccess download"... The difference with the latter is I switch positions - ie the opt-in goes under the link that leads to download page...

    Hope this helps
