Selling my first ecommerce site

Hello,

I have decided to dump my first ecommerce site. Although it makes a few hundred a month I have lost my passion for it and have decided to move on.

I would certainly appreciate advice in regards to not get scammed when selling my site and how I might get as much as possible for it.

Since this is my first sale I dont know what it is that I dont know if you follow me

Thank you in advance.

I suggest that you use Flippa to sell your site. You should always use escrow for the transaction; otherwise you might wind up giving away the site and getting nothing.

Other than that: be open with all the information. That does not mean that you should publicly list all business secrets but when somebody seems to be really interested it's good to answer all question.

What's the site and what asking price are you considering? (Yes I'm inquiring).

Well generally speaking if you are making a few hundred a month (we'll use $200 to make this easy) your site should sell for no less than $2000 in my opinion (based on that monthly income).

With that price you will see good results through Flippa, and I wouldn't sell it without using escrow. Is your income stable or is one month $50 and the next month is $250 and then the next is $175?

EDIT: Woah! I thought it was an affiliate site. Are you stocking all this product or drop shipping?

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Well I personally think that the site increases in value there, because the relationship is already set up with the distributor. You've already done the work to weed out the ****ty ones and keep the good ones--thus I truly believe that adds a premium to your site.

How much of a premium? I'm not quite sure, but maybe someone else can chime in... (where the hell is Sam England when you need him?!)

We've had quite a bit of success with selling our sites on Flippa. An established dropshipping business could do quite well, actually. Rather than re-write our tips here, check out this other thread where some useful ideas were given:
