Hi Everyone,

Im new to this forum but I'm hoping I can get some help. I have recently created a squeeze page for my business to try and increase the conversions of targetted traffic to my website - link is in my sig.

The problem however is that this new squeeze page is not converting well and I'm wondering why? If anyone can offer some pointers- negative or positive it would be much appreciated.

The site receives targeted traffic due to a #1 listing in yahoo but it just doesn't seem to be converting well (around 8%) and its driving me crazy. I am climbing up the google rankings at the moment due to an seo campaign and I want to try and get a good page sorted with decent conversions (30-40%) in advance of increased traffic.

I'd appreciate any feedback I can get.

Thanks,
Sam.

Toss CrazyEgg.com on the page and heatmap it. Also study your analytics to see where the traffic is coming from, etc.

I have reviewed analytics and traffic is coming from relevant sources for my site. I think it may be the design/colours. Are there any resident squeeze page experts on this site that take on projects?

Personally, I don't think you make a very compelling case for the problem. One paragraph in a matter of fact manner? Where's the pain? And a call back before any trust or relationship building? Just sayin.

    1. My guess is because you put the phone number query that it kinda turn off your visitors. But if your list is required for high end product or service, its OK to put this phone number query so you can filter which customers willing to spend money and which one not. conversion maybe small but this list is more willing to hear you and your offers.

    2. Put the 'we had helped...' upper

    3. the 'about us' i.e. our company is blah blah blah...you can put it on other page like About Us. Unless you can write more benefit.

    4. so far the benefits are OK but not so compelling and the overall squeeze page is lacking of call to action...I think thats the biggie...

In my opinion you are asking for too much information...

    First name
    Last name
    phone number
    email address
    best time to call
    Name of first born :p

My fingers get tired just looking - People are lazy - make it easier for them and your conversions will increase

Many people - perhaps especially in England - have some reluctance to give a phone number to companies they don't know, in your industry, fearing that they'll have never-ending cold calls from companies in related businesses, that their information will be sold on, and so on. I'm wondering if you might do much better with just an email opt-in and an automated response to people giving them some reassuring information, phone numbers to call, etc.

The primary reason why your 'squeeze page' is not converting
is because it doesn't have a bloody headline.

Have a clear headline that instantly telegraphs to the visitor
what's in it for them to read any further - let alone complete
    the form.

The page is currently too busy with too many elements competing
for the reader's limited attention. None of the current elements
stand out or do their job effectively - hence the shoite conversion
    rate.

Go back to Squeeze Page basics 101 - Headline, compelling bullets,
strong call-to-action and an opt-in form with an enticing benefit
    for signing-up.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

    Shaun

You just took the words out of my mouth.

The squeeze page is a bit too overwhelming.

I didn't even get what you are selling.

With squeeze pages the best bet is going for the K.I.S.S method.

keep it simple sam and people will signup for your offer!

If you want decent conversions I would recommend shooting a video.

Why? Of what benefit will this be to him given this niche?

    I'm in the UK.

Was just wondering why you think 8% is a bad conversion rate? Do you have anything to compare it to in the same market?

When IM'ers are getting like 40-60% we're usually looking at very simple squeeze pages with semi-targetted traffic and a population who are very used to squeeze pages.

This is a very different niche with coldish organic traffic.

Personally I'd also try converting the picture of a mobile phone to something clickable that took them to another squeeze page. I tried to click on it to find out how much I was owed... I think you could capitalise on this with another page that focuses selling them the idea of finding out more and entering their details.

My gut feeling (although testing is the only way to be sure) is that more people would enter their details to find out how much they were owed than to request a call back (I think they're scared about being sold to). You can still call them back... just make the focus 'How much am I owed'.

I'd also have the PDFs open up in a seperate window (privacy and complaints policy). I thought the relevant findings page looked ok but the blog lost my trust a little... I'd be tempted to get it matching the look of the main page more.

You also have to remember that some people will call instead of entering their details which will also lower the conversion rate for subscribers... despite the fact that it is a 'conversion'.

I was also going to suggest a call to action at the bottom of the page too... the telephone number or a prompt to go back up and enter their details.

Keep going mate... I know the financial world can be tough with regulatory issues surrounding it and making websites compliant!

It may be because people are either too lazy or a bit sceptical to put in their personal details. Try leaving out additional fields like phone number and best time to call, then test the opt-in rates for 3 consecutive days. It worked well for me.

    Hope this helps

I also recommend to add a video this would definitively increase the conversion .

I just disabled a video squeeze page from a 3-way split test because it was only converting at 44.8% vs. my two other pages which are in a close race - converting at 61.4% & 61.7%...

They all three use the exact same copy, just a different media & layout...

I would have sworn the video would win, but I'm glad i didn't ASSume anything...

Your best bet is to take some of the advice given on this thread and set up a split test - it's really simple to do with Google website optimizer & you'll be able to steadily increase your conversions rate over time - without a lot of guesswork - based on scientific data - not opinions...

anyways - congrats on setting up a squeeze page and getting traffic to it - most people never get that far...

now take a little more action & set up that split test so you can start reaping more benefit from your work...

      PEACE!

Try to mention the word FREE. Maybe like FREE consultation or a FREE ebook relating to finances something like that. Give them a reason why they should leave their email.. Something of value..

I understand your reasoning but given this niche it's not applicable.

This would merely dilute what is on offer.

There are several points that have already been raised, but in summary.

    * Strong Headline
    * Strong Call to Action (set it off with a different contrasting color like good ole paypal orange)
    * Stronger Benefits
    * Less info required for optin (if possible)

    Start with that...

Then get setup with Google Website Optimizer. Unless you have a lot of traffic, don't use more than two variations at once - multivariate testing should really be reserved for high traffic otherwise you won't get enough data to draw any conclusions.

Now, just begin to test, test, and test some more.

    * Try two different headlines
    * Try removing one optin input
    * Try different colors for optin call to action
    * etc, etc...

Lastly, realize that while 8% in your niche might not be terrible, 40% might not be realistic either - especially if you need all that info. Each input drops the optin rate. But you'll never really have the answers you want unless you test, test, test...

You can use Perry Marshall's splittester.com site to evaluate when a test has enough data to be significantly relevant or not. Yes, it's designed for Adwords, but math is pretty much math, and it's a good way of getting to results quicker.

    Hope that helps ya...

      Oh, one other suggestion...

Go look for somewhat related CPA offers - anything closely resembling your niche - and study their optin pages a bit. You can really learn a lot from quality CPA offer pages, because they do some hard core testing on those...

In most cases it is your headline or the free gift you are giving away. The problme can be also with the quality of your traffic. Where do you get your traffic from?

Wow really impressed with some of the replies here. Thank you all for taking the time to communicate with me. I have made revisions to my site design and I am now preparing a squeeze page that will better suit my niche. Thanks again everyone

You are asking too much in your optin form...

Just asks for the readers EMAIL and then when they submit that ask for the rest of the details on the next page
