Both of your options can get you into trouble. Be sure and check if you have permission to use the name in your domain before registering. It would be shame to build up a site that gets ranked well only to open your mailbox one day and find a cease and desist letter.

For me, one of the great attractions of affiliate marketing is not being dependent on the availability, success and continuity of any individual product, but being able to change/substitute my promotions really quickly and easily, so I register the domain-name for the niche, myself, not for the product.

As Brian wisely observes above, you need to make sure, before using either of the two you suggest, that you have permission.

That said, I'd take the .net without the word "review", myself.

I always go with .com over .net. If the .com is taken and you go with the .net you will likely get people who forget you are .net and type in .com and give your compeditor free traffic which should have been yours.

    Go to second one, productnamereview.com.

The domain looks like professional than .net and don't forget that many people search "product name + reviews" before buying it.

But surely not as many as search without the word "review"? That's what matters, no?

That was my reason for preferring one to the other.

Domain extensions don't affect SEO, so the .net/.com part wouldn't influence me either way.

I appreciate that there may be other reasons, such as resale, for preferring a .com, but I suspect that the primary context being asked about here is SEO, so I'm sticking firmly with productname.net. I think only marketers imagine that ".com looks more professional". Customers don't. (At least mine don't - and yes, I have asked them).

I personally put my domain after my own brand name. It gives me the flexibility to change the website for different offers and what not. It also guarantees that the domain will give me the most bang for the buck. You don't want to pay for it and then whatever offer you ran falls flat on its face.

I'd go with .com domain. The word "review" may or may not be helpful. I guess people rarely use this word when searching for some product or service.

You shouldn't be using either of those. You'll want to be a bit broader with your domain name. If you're doing Powertec power racks, then maybe "PowerRackReviews.com" would be good.

Having review in your domain is usually a pretty decent idea, since review searches tend to convert better. Just make sure that it doesn't make the domain super long.
