What is the deal with Pay Per Call?

I have been on CJ for years now and I never really paid attention to that "pay per call" section. I understand the concept, but I don't hear a lot about it. Is it lucrative? Easier or harder than regular affiliate marketing? Thoughts?

This can not be answered in one sentence...

Many pay per call offer are "for the birds" meaning that they just suck dry the affiliate.

    1. You have to find offers that pay per call and also online.
    2. If you search CJ you are most likely out of luck: Go to Linkshare, there you find the better converting offers (and you get actually paid; I am not so sure about CJ as there are some well, rather shady programs listed. They are lacking the qualifications department. CJ has highest volume; Linkshare has best quality.)

There's been some big selling wso's recently on the subject so if it interests you might be worth searching the wso section.

I worked with a pay per call site for a few months and had minimal success. I would only do the incentivized offers and would pay a percentage of the payment to the people making the calls. Can be profitable but dealing with CJ can be a pain.
