Which Email Autoresponder company has the best segmentation features?

It sure aint aweber....
At least in my opinion. I've had back and forth with them for the past couple of days. As an example, I asked support why there's a "no open" feature but not an "open" feature. Yes I am a ware that you can find out who's opened a message based on per message variables - but not across an entire list or even across your entire portfolio...

I'm curious to hear about other people's experience. Also, who uses Interspire here? I heard their support isn't too good..

I know that Infusionsoft takes a very different approach to segmentation via "tags". This smart tagging approach even allows you to do conditional branching in your autoresponder. So, for example, "send this message only if the user took upsell A" or whatever - all dependent upon how you set up your tagging.

I am not pushing Infusionsoft and don't personally use it - I use Aweber. But like you, I am *very* disappointed with it's lack of segmentation. It has some weak automation capabilities, but that's it. Infustionsoft has other downsides, however, such as a cumbersome and difficult to get up and going cart software and the fact that it's $300 a month as well.

Sorry, probably not as helpful as you'd like...

Personally I think this is a HUGE opportunity in the market right now. We need an Aweber that is capable of advanced techniques like tagging and segmenting... but it has to come from one of the big boys that already has a quality product with high delivery rates - I'm not one to gamble on a no name...

Great insight - thanks!! Any comments on icontact or Constant Contact or Mailchimp? I'm guessing the former two are probably more advanced than the latter two.

I mean I even did a video for the aweber tech support guys, but still didn't get the help I needed. I mean I guess when one wants to do more sophisticated marketing one will have to move on from aweber - :S

Yeah, sadly, that's the case... I've not used the others. I'm not super fond of Aweber because it is so basic, but I use the limited automation features to essentially accomplish a hack of a "tagging" approach by "moving" people from list to list as they walk through the funnel. Again, FAR from elegant, but I'm still not convinced on Infusionsoft - not for the pricing - but I have other issues with its cart capabilities and pricing flexibility (in terms of pricing cart items for sale, not it's price to me).

Aweber used to be one of the best on the block but their speed of updates and new features is making them slowly creep into "Not sure I like this tool anymore" zone.

They really need more segmentation abilities and automation abilities. They should hire me for a week. I'll turn that thing into the leading autoresponder service or double their money back

Tom Kulzer, Justin Premick, Aweber... Anyone listening?

(that should get their Google alerts going!)

            Hey Justin...

            LOL... I agree... 100%

I can't really even remember the last feature or improvement they made other than the social integration stuff, which wasn't exactly rocket science...

icontacts segment system is decent. Infusions is ok and action sequences make it a great, but pricey solution. Send Studio can mix and mashup the lists pretty good as well. Aweber is teribad for advanced list management and the last versrion of getresponse was painful. Constant contact is a no go as well being a very difficult system to filter, no advanced filters or inverted search. Elite autoresponder chops em good too but needs ungodly resources thrown at it. ARP can do it as well.

I'm curious, what do you like about iContact's segment system?

As for comments people are making, I agree. Also, it's a sad truth that the harder these companies make it to do something, the less inclined people will be to do it....
And sadly, if they made things easier, people would get better results and the companies could probably charge more because the ROI would be there for the customers.

The circle of value to price would continue....

Icontacts is ok, but have been looking for this also.

Aweber is good for straight ar sequencing for our niche sites, but we have been having a bit of trouble with it lately, anyone else experiencing this with them. hmmmm.
