Anyone still using Contest Burner?

I just signed up for Contest Burner and I am starting to wonder if I bought a product past its prime. Everything seemed to work except attaching an aweber account to the contest correctly.

Also the support forum is like a ghost town. Last post was in May.

I heard great things about this product and I am thinking about using in for my travel show. But, then I hear Facebook changed its contest rules in May and I'm thinking Bill is leaving this product behind.

This product has so much potential I am just shocked I haven't been able to find people talking about it recently.

So I ask...I anyone still using Contest Burner and if so how is it going?

Cheer!

Randy

I looked at this when it first came out but when i signed up to it to test the system it didn't work it just kept asking me to sign up I contacted their support and never got a reply.

I've been looking at PunchTab : Build Instant Loyalty | Free loyalty programs and rewards for websites, blogs, and applications just lately to see if it offers a similar solution.

It still works a peach for me. You just need to be able to adapt to some new changes and you should be fine..

Thanks for giving me the head up with Contest burner . Was going to buy but if the customers support is not there then it probably not as great as i thought it was

Am sure there are other alternative you can use if you search

Hey Paul I would also love to hear about how you adapt to the new changes and how Contest Burner is going for you.

It seems to me that I am missing something here. It's like people don't want to tell me its a dead product.

I went through the whole training course and got everything working except the aweber optin and I'm thinking I am wasting my time.

Of course I try and search the internet for answers and all I find are affiliate write ups trying to get me to purchase the damn thing.

Any info will make my day at this point

Interesting, I was just checking out the sales page again today and about to pull the trigger when I thought ' maybe I should check out the forum and see what the latest buzz is'.. glad I did.

Looking forward to some more feed back (positive that is) before I dive in on this product.

    Thanks

Well I finally heard back from the tech support. The aweber problem was resolved and I am going to do a contest next week for a cat litter company. I will post the contest and keep you all up to date on Contest Burner and if you should buy it.

Hi Randy... Glad to have you on as a customer!

Just to clarify for everyone in the thread: ContestBurner is actively supported and frequently updated by my full-time in-house team. We have several MAJOR updates coming out with new features built in for all previous customers.

In fact, we're beta testing a KILLER ContestBurner Facebook app right now that should be released to paying customers & friends in just a few days! Not only does it put contests in Facebook and make your Facebook pages incredibly viral, but it's also a full featured point and click fan page builder all in one

I became fb contest burner beta tester recently. Looks like a nice FB app. What I'm not sure is if it's ready for us, marketers, to use it in REAL life. Storage field shows 500 kb limit which is not much.

i did not pay anything to be a beta tester. I'd rather pay and know it's READY to use and SUPPORTED by the developer.

Maybe Bill could tell us the following:

        1. can fb APP handle a real volume in BETA?
        2. if usage and functionality are limited in beta... when should the REAL thing become available commercially?

I do not need CB to promote my website... JUST my facebook page

        Bill, please respond...

I purchased CB. a while back and although I've yet to imement it, I'm looking forward to what it can do...as well as the updates.

I can imagine using it with a qualified list who are ready on board, and not use it as an initial source of traffic...

    But I may be wrong

James: Contest "kick off" is very important to having a successful contest... you're right in that the easiest way to do it is with existing customers or prospects.

However, driving traffic to a contest can be VERY powerful. It multiplies your traffic. So if you send 1,000 clicks... because of the viral nature of the contests you could get 5,000 visitors instead of just 1,000. Not to mention the social proof and buzz aspect of the contest running that boosts your sales at the same time.

And... as far as i know: ContestBurner is the only contest system that gets You lasting SEO benefit from all the new backlinks pointing to your site.

    Ok... enough bragging.

      Thanks Bill for your response

I am about to launch my first official contest for a client during my next episode of Road Bandit. This client is a cat litter company and they are giving away a years supply and $100 dollar amazon card to the number one spot and then the other 9 spots get a less amount of litter.

Is there any rules I should make sure I obey with Facebook and Twitter regarding the contest and monetary prizes?

    Hi Bill,
Thanks for the info, and you can brag all you want, Im sure. Its not 'bragging' if the tool does more than it says on the tin, or does what it sets out to do at least. Im confident that when I do use it, it will be a boon to my niche and growth of my site(s)

Never can get my head around all of it works, but like a car engine, I don't need to know, just that it works.

    Thanks again

Hi James! I just saw this in here. We've worked very hard to make ContestBurner comply with Facebook terms. So if you use it as-is you'll be fine.

Keep in mind FB doesn't want people using the like button as a voting mechanism and will ban contests for doing that. They've also said they do not want the like button serving as a way to actually enter a contest. ContestBurner doesn't do either of these things. You can read more about the terms here:

Not if the Facebook user gives permission for your app to post to their wall.

The functionality is even more granular as far as permissions are concerned.

Posting to application user wall is a fundamental functionality of the timeline
app from Spotify that was debuted at the f8 conference.

          Thanks,

Just a wee note...I had some glitches with CB after buying it around 11 months ago and only now using it. After an initial hiccup (due to my not understanding the support process) I've had daily communication ( I'm not a techie) with support and they have resolved my problem. Efficient, gracious, even in the fire of a frustrated customer, and commited to helping me make it work.

    Hats off to them.

I can now launch my contest. Just wanted to say a public thanks to Bills' team, and Greg in particular. Thanks Thankyou, and wahay...

Cracks me up reading a sales page for IM offers. The cannibalism is rather tangible. Sometimes I feel like the WF is one big list!

I had high hopes for this program getting me out of a jam on the back of another contest program not being ready on time - big fail.

I can't seem to get the technical support that was offered as a VIP upsell, asking for refund, staff aren't even available during the advertised Livechat periods. Not hopeful of hearing back re refund based on experience over last few days (also had problems with standalone notifier errors on three installations with three different hosting companies - so product is pretty much unless without help as can't even get my demo site unlocked to use on customer via wordpress (I don't like to sell things unless I've tried them myself).

The facebook beta test doesn't work with mobile phones or QR codes either, but that seems to be an issue with facebook apps redirecting on phones - ie a Facebook issue, not this program, probably the reason it is still in beta.

Overall this was a HUGE letdown and has cost me a client :-(
