Had to Share a few "FREE" Cool Tools with My Warriors!!!

Hey Warriors,

I couldn't keep these to myself! Had to share some stuff I found on the web the past wwek that could help out with document/graphic creation, conversion or editing!

The first is Zamzar.com - I had to add a PDF document in both Word and PDF for download on a site. I couldn't get the PDF to open in Word so I just went to this site, uploaded the document and you can choose which format you would like to convert it to and it emails you! No sign up or anything and totally FREE! Up to 100MB and they also have a File Sending and Video Download service for free as well up to a certain size.

The second is Pixlr.com - LOVE LOVE LOVE this! First, it's online, it's FREE and it's like a free version of a Photoshop. Obviously not as full featured but I played around with it and it was a HUGE help for creating web ready graphics and much more. I was surprised. Easy to use and I am not a
Photoshop person really.

The third is Quackit (online web editor) BUT you have to go to Online HTML Editor because I couldn't find a link to this from the home page. Just delete everything they have in there an you can hit SOURCE on the menu and enter your code and you will see what it will look like on the web. Used this already about 4 times this week! Altered it in here and BAM... cut an pasted the code into the site.

The plus about these online services is that you can be at any computer and if your computer dies, you still have access to get things done.

ENJOY and hope they can help you too!!!!

Thanks so much for that. Will have a look at these tools. I am just trying to get a list of all the stuff I need for various things together and keep it safe. I sometimes find something really useful and then after a few pints of scrumpy, it's gone. Thanks again

Your are right! I tried a few of these but the GIMP took up so my hard drive space I had to delete it b/c it messed up some of my other applications. I will look at the others. I was trying to find no download solutions b/c I had an awful computer crash. Now I back up everything virtually and have all of these in my bookmarks this way I am back up in no time on another computer.

The HTML editor sounds very helpful. And I plan to try out the program which operates similar to Photoshop. It can come in very handy. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Oops! Forgot another one!

    ColorZilla!
    - This helps find what colors are used on a site. It's a Firefox add on. HUGE HELP! Basically what you do is hit Web Page Analyzer and at the bottom of the pulldown and it will give you ALL the colors used on a site. Mouse over each color and presto! Gives you the Hex # and where on the site it is from.

you can use Gimp as well to make graphics. It's free and I found a vid on youtube that walks you through setting it up to mimic photoshop. I like it... although I am no graphics guy

Just a word of caution, GIMP will take up A LOT of space on your hard drive and use a lot of RAM but it is a great program if you need a Photoshop similar program. Good luck!

I've been using Pixlr for a while now. It works quite similar to Photoshop. I have the Gimp too but I find that it's just easier to use Pixlr. Plus, no need to download and install it.

Anyway, for those who just gave Pixlr a quick glance...Try it out and I think you'll really like it.
