hey mates

wp has been giving me the blues and I don't know what direction is up, so I thought to try here before hiring out fixes.

I have two domains I'm trying to install Wordpress onto. Both gives me an error that looks like this:

Warning: require_once(/home2/tearsofj/public_html/barebonesessential.com/wp-content/themes/genesis/lib/init.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/tearsofj/public_html/barebonesessential.com/wp-content/themes/lexicon/functions.php on line 3

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home2/tearsofj/public_html/barebonesessential.com/wp-content/themes/genesis/lib/init.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home2/tearsofj/public_html/barebonesessential.com/wp-content/themes/lexicon/functions.php on line 3

one domain isn't appearing under the domains I have with my hosting either.

I have genesis.1.7.zip on my HDD but its only unzipped. Any ideas?

Have you installed the latest version of Wordpress? Genesis 1.7 is made to work with Wordpress 3.2 (probably also works with 3.2.1).

How did you install the Genesis theme? Did you take the 'Upload theme' route in the Wordpress dashboard?

      hey mate,

In fantastico it says I currently have Wordpress 3.1 installed on both domains. I updated one domain to the recent wordpress and received the error I posted above. So this time with the 2nd domain I didn't update WP and still received the same error message when installing the templates.

Whats weirder is I didn't install genesis anywhere, I just unzipped it because it looks like a template too. I did however upload the other theme from the dashboard as you said.

Where did you unzip it to? Try to delete the unzipped files, and see if that solves your problem.

To install Genesis, go Appearance > Themes > Install Themes > Upload in the Wordpress dashboard. Then select the zipped file on your computer to be uploaded, click on "Install Now", and the theme will be installed.

Then you just have to activate it.

I did update one domain to the most recent wordpress and still received the error message. I tried to be smooth and not update the other and the same error came up.

Does your host happen to have cPanel with Fantastico? Fantastico offers a 1 click installation for Wordpress and I have used it hundreds of time without a hitch. If your host does have Fantastico I would try installing with that first before hiring any work out. It will automatically create the databases for you and only takes about 15 seconds to install. Hope that helps.

Sometimes you get errors like this when you initially install an incompatible plugin. I've had to disable and then install another plugin and THEN go back and reinstall the earlier plugin to avoid the errors.

I see an option to removed current installations which are my two domains. Here's the message:

The installation in the root directory of barebonesessential.com and the MySQL database and MySQL user named tearsofj_wrdp2 will be deleted.

        Should I reinstall?

You should learn to use FTP - just for cases like this.

Using your FTP software connect to the site and go to > wp-content/themes/ directory and delete that genesis thing.

WP should revert to the default theme.
