Ideas for the most useful and profitable IM application ever made.

Hi guys

I only recently got into internet marketing. I sat down and asked myself what skills I really have and I settled on programming. I recently graduated with a computer science degree so im a programmer at heart.

I was thinking of developing an Internet marketing application.

I figured the best place to come for ideas was here. So do you guys have any IM related problems that are constantly cropping up were you thought "I wish there was a piece of software that could do this!"

If I was to make a IM software application for you right now, what would you want it to do?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I understand there a million possibly. Such as keyword optimisation etc...

At the moment I was thinking of building a IM classroom type site filled with complete IM guides and integrating some IM related software into the site.

I would then give away 50% of the content for free and charge around $10 a month for the additional content. I would allow affiliates to promote the site for 100% commission all just to build a list. I would then promote the site through guest postings, free reports and some viral content, relying mainly on affiliates for promotion.

Once I had a decent size list and some reputation I would create a series of back end products and start to see a profit.

Am I going about this wrong? Is the IM niche too saturated for anything like this?

Your idea would work and does sound good but there are SO MANY apps out there already you need to be quite creative to come up with new apps on a regular basis.

You have to find an application that is currently missing in the market and not just create another "me too" product.

Here's a crucial thing I think your app needs to do: It needs to completely automate something so that it's braindead easy to use. So no filling of captchas etc. I would buy something like that.

Thanks for the ideas guys very helpful tips

I read through Chris Egans thread, some very ideas in there. I liked the idea of a social network site for internet marketers. Sparked an idea for me:

How about a social networking site whereby each member of the site specifies a skill or significant interest that is useful in the online marketing world. For example one member may sign up as a graphic designer, a programmer, a marketer or a organiser etc...

The member then has a choice to either start or join a team. A team is a group of differently skilled members who work together towards building a business. Each member of the team owns a stake in the business. When a team is first constructed the team owner pitches their idea and what skills they would need to put the plan into action.

Other members who have the skills would pitch to the team owner how they could contribute and join the team. The work would then begin. All activities of the business, work, progress, assets revenue would be integrated into the sites framework in an easy to administrate system. Sales and revenue would be split between the members based on their contribution and the team’s financial plan.

As the business grows it can attract other members to the team based on the skills the businesses needs when needed. This way it would require almost no capital to begin only an idea. Any services needed by the business, logo design, branding, marketing services, SEO etc... would be traded for equity in the team.

The site and the organisation behind it would see revenue from a percentage of the equity of every team. The site would use this capital to support other businesses. With enough successful teams it would ensure that the site had the resources to significantly help any smaller teams starting up. Providing professional services for free such as

    Legal advice
    Accounting services
    Advertisement Services
    Professional Advice
and most importantly significant links in industry.

With multiple teams all working and supporting each other on one website it would attract investors. The entire business, its owner’s histories, previous work contacts and progress would all be documented within the sites framework making investment easy and attractive.

The benefits of anyone for working on the site would be

    Potential for significant investment.
Ownership of several potentially very prosperous businesses
The ability to work when you want, how you want, on what you want, at all times.

The benefits of the investor would be

    Clear documented history of business
Clear documentation of earnings, members and member histories.
Clear value of business based on perception within sites internal market.

The site would significantly benefit a novice to internet marketing by allowing them to leverage their skills in the best possible way. It would also significantly benefit the expert internet marketer as they would be able to gather maximum value of their skills and experience.

This may be idealised and I’m getting way ahead of myself but this seems the perfect method of doing business online. The ability to leverage your skills and interests in the best possible way. Allowing you to work on things your good at for maximum value. Whereby it’s in everyone’s best interest to see you succeed.

Any thoughts? Iv definitely rambled on a bit but I think it’s a really interesting idea. Instead of business owners and workers, we have skilled partners all working towards a common goal. Social networking for business

A site with the potential to do all of that already exits. You are on it.

Your ideas are missing 1 key ingredient--traffic.

    Without it you'll never know.

You're thinking in terms of "Here's what I'm offering."

You need to be thinking in terms of "How can I position what I'm offering so it sells like hotcakes and how can I drive consistent traffic to it?"

With the right sales presentation and the right amount of traffic from the right sources, it'll sell.
