How Do I Know Who to Bounce Off My List?

Hey Warriors!

In Aweber, you know how on a Broadcast email it gives you the bounce numbers?

Well how do I discover who those bounce people are so I can remove them from my list of subscribers?

Because aren't we paying to have them on there? Like if you get near the next tier or something?

When they bounce Aweber will automatically unsubscribe them...

So just delete your unsubs to clear the deadweight

  Except that mail bounces for any number of reasons unrelated to actual invalid addresses and a "bounce" may not be a bounce.

Oh that sucks then! What if I'm subbed to someone and my email bounces back for some weird reason - aweber unsubs me? Ick!

  Yep. Considering the difficulty and cost of gaining a subscriber, there has to be a better way of cleaning your list.
  
  Some people let their mailboxes get full -- I know, hard to believe in the days of virtually unlimited Gmail and Yahoo mail -- so it's possible if you mail them again in a couple of weeks or so it'll go through.
  
  Some ISPs actually *block* email from one or more of the majors (Aweber, Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc) and that's seen as a bounce. You could get around this by sending a test email directly from your own account.
  
  Would love to hear other marketers' strategies for cleaning.

  Tiffany, not to worry... This is quoted directly from aweber's FAQ:
  
  What Does AWeber Do With Undeliverable Subscribers?
  
  When a subscriber is undeliverable, their entry is flagged in your account.
  
  We will continue to send your messages to a subscriber until they are undeliverable 3 times in a 60-day period. Once they are undeliverable 3 times in 60 days (and those 3 times are separated by at least a week), that person will be unsubscribed from your list.

With ImnicaMail there are two kinds of bounces detected - Hard and soft. Only the hard bounces are removed. You get to see the percentage in the metrics page of the broadcast.

Maybe Aweber has some similar system running in the background?

In aweber, Go to subscribers > search > undeliverable subscribers

I participate on a website where I have my own newsletter going out to a niche group. Sometimes email bounces back because someone has set their email as "out of office" or "on vacation." I just delete the flag and leave them on. Rarely do I ever have a second bounce on that same email address. I would not want to unsubscribe them just because they were on vacation. If they continue to bounce back, then I remove them from the list.

After reading RichGrad's post on what Aweber says about undeliverable subscribers, that does make sense to give them three attempts before deleting.

It's great that Aweber takes care of the details. On the above mentioned site, we have a process where we manually delete those that are bouncing back.
