Is it true that Utube is putting more restrictions on affiliate marketers.

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the WSO forum the other day and this is my first post.

I have a question about video marketing on Utube. I'v heard they are getting strict with affiliate marketers. That they are banning certain niches. I'd really appreciate your feedback on this. Thanks.

I have not seen any indication they are cracking down on affiliate marketers... though I wouldn't be surprised if they're taking a closer look at them. With all of the new YouTube spam tools, video spinners and the like, YouTube is getting flooded with crap. It lowers the quality of their site so applying more scrutiny makes sense for them.

Just stay away from activities that raise red flags with them. Things like creating tons of accounts from the same IP, using your own cluster of accounts to drive up comment/like/view counts on each others videos, posting 93949 videos per day, etc.

You can and should put your landing page URL as the first thing in the description (YouTube will automatically make it an active link). If you put an affiliate link there instead, I have heard of folks getting their videos removed for that, but it's not consistent.

Bottom line is when you create a YouTube account, they don't know what you are going to use it for and in most cases they don't care. If you stay away from spammy activity and videos that violate their TOS, you should be all set to promote whatever you want.

    Hope that helped!
