Does Having Multiple Blogs On One Domain Work?

G'day,

I have a directory style site and was wanting to know if it is feasible to have a blog for each category.

I guess the only reason I am looking at this is because I want each category to be independent from the index page.

For example, the index page is a blog about looking up reverse phone numbers.
Then I have directories like:

http://www.here-is-your.info/About/DogTraining/
M. G. Fencing: Servicing Frankston, Seaford, Carrum Downs and surrounding areas
http://www.here-is-your.info/About/NaturalRemedy

and more...

I would like them to as independant from each other as possible.

Any and all comments are more than welcome.
