How Do You Convert Videos?

FLV, OGG or WebM format. Avoid proprietary codecs like H.264.

Not sure I understand the problem?

You say that the MP3s take a long time to load but the converters should
be able to create a faster loading format for the iPad I would think.

How are you converting your videos so they load right away online.

I use a software by Xilisoft to convert my videos. I think it's $39. That software has an output option specifically for iPads although I haven't used that setting yet. I also will use Camtasia.

Another thing I tested was the output quality for my videos. Since I create a lot graphic heavy videos with lots of movement I needed to find a setting that would make the file sizes small and fast for downloading/playing, but keep the quality up so the video isn't degraded.

On Camtasia, as an example, I could go all the way down to 35% for those videos and create very small files compared to what I started with without suffering any noticable loss of quality.

Try seeing how low you can go with your settings for your videos. Josh Anderson is a wizard at this kind of stuff, and if you could get him to answer your question you'd have THE difinitive answer.

It's best to create two versions of your videos. One at the resolution you want to present to your normal viewers, the other with a resolution the same size that's compatible with the ipad. MP4 format is the best option as all devices will normally play it.
