I finally started Bum Marketing just yesterday. After making many affiliate sales with Adwords, but hardly making any profit, I wanted to try a free route. Just wondering if this has worked well for anyone here. Thanks.

Awesome! I want to be a bum marketer! I would love to get free traffic with articles to my squidoo lens! I have no idea how to create a website, but maybe after I get some cash rolling in this way, I can focus on learning how to make my own websites later on in my IM career.

it definitly works, but it will take longer than ppc or other methods. so be prepared to put in some effort

There is no doubt that bum marketing does work if done correctly. I've had some really good sucess over the last month and a half. The best part about it is all it cost you is time!

Ezinearticles is the best article directory in my eyes.

The thing the bum marketing method doesn't really mention is that you have to have a landing page or squeeze page. If you do not want to pay for an autoresponder, at the bare minimum, set up a product review that your traffic is first sent to.

In this review, be honest... state what the will do, list the pros, list the cons, and give a rating (I usually give a favorable rating of like 4.2 out of 5.0... 5 out of 5 sounds too salesy).

Remember, be honest in your review and do not make it seem like a sales pitch.

Additionally, do your keyword research that you should cater your articles to! (the bum marketing method teaches you how to do this).

US Free Ads didn't work for me at all. Articles, however, produced much different results.

If you write good articles and structure them the right way, you can make big sales. The first month I used the bum marketing method, I made $600! That was the first money I had EVER made online, and it was pretty exciting.

When I first started affiliate marketing back in 2003, for 2 years I used ppc as my main source for traffic and just like you I maid plenty of sales, but hardly any profit. i was using article marketing at the same time and once I started tracking things, I realised that I was getting some good traffic to my site from articles alone.

Understand that article marketing is a much slower process, but in my opinion is more profitable (until you learn more advanced ways of using ppc) and once you submit one article, you will continue to get traffic from it for years to come.

Focus most of your attention on submitting to ezinearticles, but I also recommend goarticles and articledashboard.

Having your traffic go to your own lead capture page (squeeze page) will work better, as someone else has already mentioned.

Creating your own lead capture page is really not that hard nor time consuming so make sure to take some time out to learn how to do it soon.

Bum marketing is how I got my start, when I first began looking for ways to make money online I came across the bum marketing method.

In 2 weeks I wrote 30 articles and made close to 1000 dollars. Bum Marketing mixed with the right mindset and a firm belief and practice in the law of attraction helped me change my life with the internet. At that point in my business I wasn't even sure what a keyword was, or what to do with it.

My experience:

It has ben mentioned a few times but don't send your traffic from articles directly to a sales page.

A good strategy -if you have your own product- is to send people from the squeeze page to a OTO page. It really works!

I have made the majority of my income through bum marketing. It can be a very profitable way of driving traffic and making sales if you know how to do it properly.

One of the best ways to go about making money with bum marketing is to set up a review on a web 2.0 platform such as Squidoo and then drive traffic to it through article marketing, forum marketing, social bookmarking, blog commenting, or whatever other means of driving traffic you can think.

However, you need to know how to properly craft your Squidoo landing page so that you can build trust with the visitor as well as lead them to your own product or the product which you are promoting.

Thanks. I think this is definitely enough motivation to keep me excited about bum marketing. I will be promoting affiliate products by sending article traffic to my squidoo lenses. I'll let you know how I do. It's just a shame that until you write 10 articles to EzineArticles, you have to wait up to 10 days for them to be approved. Boo. Oh well. A small price to pay, I suppose.

Yep...Bum Marketing works.

I found out about it about 2 and half months ago. It is a great way to get leads, I have about 250 articles published...but that's small compared to some of my mentors.

Just make sure you get your keyword research downpat so that you're not just getting the instant 24 hour traffic hit that comes with your article going live. You'll find that unless your article gets picked up by other publications your article traffic will taper off dramatically after about the first 24 to 48 hours. Getting your article indexed will allow it to stick longer and get searched out more and it justifies the amount of work you put in, do the work once and get a steady stream of traffic for months to come.

Also, as with anything in marketing you can drive as much traffic as you can but if it doesn't convert into sales or sign ups can be a disappointment considering the amount of time invested, so make sure you are always tweaking your landing page until you consistently get the results you want.

bum marketing is article marketing, I think bum marketing was the term coined by Travis Sago whereby anyone, even a bum off the street could make money using this technique because it costs nothing.

Yes, bum marketing is article marketing but with one difference - using long-tail keywords. With bum marketing, you want to find keywords that have a good amount of searches, but less competition than say the keywords "weight loss".

And, with bum marketing you don't necessarily send your reader to an affiliate link. In fact, most marketers send their traffic to a landing page such as a blog or squidoo lens. It's an easy way to make some good money

Bum marketing can make you a millionaire (easily, time consuming but easy!).

Don't listen to anyone who says "this is the best" "that is the best" etc etc. the KEY to being a successful bumarketer (coined here first) is variety and quantity.

Hit everywhere with everything and.. bookmark everything you just hit!!

No! bum marketing is a form of marketing in which a bum off the street could perform ie FREE.

It could be article marketing but does not mean only articles.

Bum Marketing uses free website/blog services such as EZA, Blogger, Hubpages and Squidoo instead of building your own virtual real estate (VRE) (own websites). It's controversial in the sense that you're putting all your eggs in other people's VRE. Should squidoo, Blogger, etc fall out of favor with Google, you're screwed.
