PayPal account limited

I recieved an email from service@paypal.com saying that my PayPal account has been limited. The reason given is "unusual charges to a credit card linked to your PayPal account". The email got sent to my Junk folder.

I logged into my PayPal account, but it says Verified. It doesn't mention anything about my account being limited. Could this be a hoax email? I wouldn't think it is a hoax because it's from service@paypal.com

Here's the full email;

    Yes it's a hoax.

They do this to steal your password.

When you click the link in the email, it goes to a fake website that looks like the real paypal site but isn't. When you log-in through this fake website, they steal your password. Then they steal your money from paypal.

If you clicked the link in the email, and is especially if you logged in through it, close your browser, clear your cache/cookies/history/everything. Then start a new browser, log-in to www.paypal.com and immediately change your password. And do this ASAP. Then contact paypal and tell them what happened, and that your password may have been compromised.

      As stated, it's a hoax.

It doesn't matter what it says in the "from" field - that's easily manipulated. But any genuine PayPal email will always address you by your account name - never just "Dear PayPal Member".

Definitely a hoax. Everyone receives these from time to time. Completely ignore it. Contact Paypal directly and as the poster/s above stated, change your password immediately and make it complicated!

All of my passwords are jotted down in an alphabetical hardbound telephone book for fast and easy reference.

And whatever you do, DON'T click on any of the links in those emails. If you do, you're asking for some unscrupulous little bugger to access your Paypal account who will siphon off your money to God knows where.

If you believe your account is limited telephone Paypal directly to verify and obviously not via the fake Paypal site given in the email.

Please tell me you didn't click on a link in the email to go to PayPal?

If your account is limited, you will know it when you log in to your PayPal account.

Always log in to PayPal via your browser and not via a link in a email or any other website.
    Have a Great Day!

As Michael said, I hope you didn't click a link in the eMail to log into your account.

As Dan said, PayPal knows your name and will not address you as "User".

If you fell for this phishing attempt, change your PayPal password RIGHT NOW.
