I anxious to start a new niche site and found one that might be a good candidate. The problem is that there's 4 Youtube videos at the top 4 positions, 3 of them PR5. Other sites on page one include a wordpress.com blog and an unpopular forum. I checked the backlinks of the sites on first page and no page has more than 100 backlinks and the backlinks to the youtube videos are very poor (PR n/a). The main reason I want to pursue this keyword, though, is because it gets 9900 exact searches/month and the exact match domain is available, .com, .net, .org, etc.

So is Youtube too big a giant to defeat? Should I just let this one go?

Are you kidding? You can slaughter the PR5 sites on You Tube and SERPs.

    - outrageous or funny videos. Gotta be good.
    - backlink the hell out the video from relevant places
    - ask for comments
    - video sitemap
    - post the video everywhere

Google usually ranks the top two visited videos in SERPs.

If you don't go for it, send me the keyword and I'll do it.

Anyone have some experience when trying to rank against Youtube? Also the niche I'm going for is a "how to" niche, which tend to always have Youtube on the first page.
