Hey everyone,

I started my first blog about a month and a half ago and I am finally happy with how things are looking. Now I am looking for ways to really start driving traffic to my site. Does anyone have any good ideas? Also if you could visit my site and look around I'd really appreciate any ideas or constructive criticism you guys could give me. Thank you all!

You could submit it to RSS directories,
    Start guest blogging,
    Article marketing,
Distribute free PDFs that have links back to your site,
    Posting videos to youtube

    Hi wyatt

The eating healthy niche is a good one, and I can already see that you have content down pat. Very well done.

Have a look around on the Warrior's Forum for SEO information and in particular Wordpress plugins that can automate the process for you. Sometimes investing in SEO specific services could be of assistance as well.

Wish you well in your marketing. Peace and Prosperity.

I have visited your site and believe you are going to build it to an authority site and not just a mini affiliate site.

If that is the case, I suggest you to be more personal and interaction with your audiences.

Create video tutorials and set up a Q & A sessions Weekly.

      Hope it help.

      Yours Sincerely

The best and quickest way to get ranked is backlinks... Go to ODesk or Backlinkteam and get a team of people working on your backlinks and you will get ranked pretty quickly. Im not sure if weight loss will be doable on a smaller budget but it cant hurt. you just need to find a few long string keywords and go after those. Hope that helps!

These are all of the free methods that I know of

    blog posts
    forum posts
video sites (use a service like tube mogul to distribute your videos to multiple sites at once.) youtube vimeo yahoo video metacafe daily motion and so on
    Bookmarking sites like digg reddit
    hubpages squidoo
social sites like facebook and twitter
    article sites like ezine articles

You can either do this yourself, or pay to have someone do it for you. There are some warriors' that do this sort of thing. you can find them in the services section of this forum. also you can find people at the digitalpoint forum and fiverr.com

    - tag your images properly

    - respond to your comments and emails
    actively

    - link to other posts

    - Comment on other blogs

    - Submit your blog to search engines

    - link to your other posts as often as you can

    - establish a form of a relationship with your fellow bloggers

    - Use Social Media

    - Check out big bloggers and ask if you can link

      You can do the following:

      1. Social bookmark every article of your blog at digg, reddit, ycombinator etc.

      2. Submit your blog's or article's URL on traffup.net, and you will get about 60-70 unique and relevant website visitors everyday, free of cost.

      3. If you have a twitter account, than use traffup's retweet section to promote promotional tweets about your blog, among millions of twitter users, free of cost. You can also gain free twitter followers with traffup.

      4. Tell people about your website on forums.

      5. Write articles about your blogs, on article submission websites such as hubpages, squidoo and ximbio. Don't go for ezine articles, you will have to wait for 10 days for your article to get approved (which won't happen anyway).

How to get traffic? There are many ways to get a lot of traffic. Here are the ones that are used more often:

    1) SEO. Yeah, it's an old strategy, but it still works. It's a little bit harder to get high rankings these days, but it's still worth the efforts. Especially, if you outsource backlinks. You can use my quality link building service, if you want.

Some key points: dont use broad match keywords. When you're doing keyword research using Google keyword tool, use exact match. That will tell you exactly how many people are searching that exact keyword per month.

Another important thing is to understand your competition. You have to fail a couple times, before you can estimate your competition properly. Use SEO for firefox plugin for this.

So, the next step is to build links. You can use my service if you want or you can build them by yourself, but I WARN you - it's very boring

    2) This is my favorite - traffic from JV partners and affiliates. You need a product, but creating a product is easy. Just take a PLR product and order new graphics and change the title. Then try to recruit affiliates. Offer at least 75% commissions. Go there and find people in your niche. Then, figure out what they need. For example, they might have a membership site. Tell them that if they promote your product, you will give them 2 hours worth of video content if they promote for you. That's how you recruit affiliates.

Another great thing, that Im actually doing right now, is interviewing experts. I will create a product from 10-15 interviews and then ask these people to promote for me. Many of them already said yes, without me asking them

Also, another very important thing about recruiting affiliates is to make sure your offer converts well. It should make at least a dollar per click for affiliate.

    3) Video marketing. Just grab a couple PLR articles and read them. If you dont know where to find them, search for "free PLR articles". Then submit videos to YouTube. Then build some backlinks.

    4) Guest blogging. Just find blogs in your niche and offer to write a blog post for them in exhange of a link to your site.

I hope this helps, if yes, hit that thanks button

You can post on forums related to your niche and advertize your site in your sig. I would normally advice you to do this as a way to generate leads and catch peoples emails in return for a free product. That way you could notify them of new blog posts by email. If listbuilding is not your thing, you can just promot your main site.

The number of people clicking on your links will increase over time as you provide more and more value and gain the trust of other forum users and visitors. It is a very good idea to have a picture of yourself as you have here at WF and using your real name (or an alias sounding as a real name), as this will get more people recognizing and remembering you.

You have a lot of good content on your site. In addition to the suggestions made above, it could be useful to review or compare different theories of longevity related to nutrition such as Roy Walford's Longevity Diet , the book Brain Longevity and theories about wine for a longer life etc. Also, a few personal posts on the blog are good to let people know why you are interested in nutrition and to connect with readrse.

For a blog, linkbait is the only way to go. Then use some social media to get the word out when you are first getting started. It takes awhile to build up momentum but will take off if you put the effort into it...

Be very careful to make your site a Google Best Practices site. Eventually, it will pay off as Google will reward you down the road if you're patient.

Seems like you have your personal tone in your articles. I recommend you start list building and "talk to" your audience. To capture people's emails, you can write a mini report (10pages maybe) and give it free. In your niche, people are always in need of valuable information and a bit of guidance because they are almost always confused about what to eat and where to go for smart shopping etc. You get the idea.

I recommend you also keep an eye on government's and big companies' "healthy living" campaigns. You can work with them in many ways as a blogger.

Here are some things you can do drive more traffic to your blog

    1. Guest Blogging - If you do nothing else , do this ... Build relationship with other blog owners and get those tasty backlinks to your website

    2. Interview Experts in your niche

    3. Repurpose your content : articles to video , article to podcast e.t.c

    4. Write articles . it is free and if you outsource and are consistent you would do fine

    5. Newsletter Ads

Do proper keyword research, focus your backlink/ranking efforts on those keywords(assuming they're not too competitive), the freebie to capture email is really a good idea, could work well in this niche, you could make a top 10 or top 20 healthiest food report for exemple.

I believe that short key words are becoming a thing of the past. It is probably due to too many web sites competing for the same phrases that cause searchers to write more specific questions.

Recently a client added a news article to his web site that contains words and phrases that a lot of people are keen to know. The result was almost instant, his web site visitors leaped up.

In future I'm going to stop pushing the product gargon and think hard about what questions searchers would use.

Try and look up some highly searched long tail keywords and get ranked.

Syndicate all of your content through the article directories.

    Write some guest blogs.

    Keep your blog updated daily.

    Keep going....

    and the traffic will come!

    Hi Wyatt,
I just launched my site and we are in the same niche and same boat. I've made some rookie mistakes already, such as paying for bot traffic and garbage traffic. My visits have been anemic and I wanted a quick fix and ended up wasting money, which I definitely can't afford with my limited resources. I've decided to focus on better quality traffic with articles submission and blogging and social bookmarking. It'll come slower, but at least I know I am attracting the right people. If anyone has suggestions for a struggling new launch please let me know! @Wyatt - since we're in the same niche maybe we can help each other. Thanks!

In the way of driving traffic to the site im in the same boat as you as I would like to do this to a few of my sites although I have tried quite a few things apart from blog posts, which I may have to try.. But forum posts seem to work well if you can find a good forum which will let you post that sort of thing and will not lock the topic.

Nice looking blog! The best traffic strategies I've implemented on my blog (only a month old now--just add /blog to the domain in my sig) are:

Using RSS Poster to post 5-8 new articles daily while I build up my own unique article list.

Submit my original articles to 10 article directories--submit to Ezine articles at same time of blog posting, then to the remainder after it's accepted there.

Use the Onlywire auto submitter for posts. Started getting traffic from StumbleUpon quickly.

Use WordPress Traffic Genius Pro--this increased my Google listings from 30 to 192 in 48 hours.

Create Web 2.0 sites at Weebly, LiveJournal, Blogger, Squidoo and Posterous. I created an original homepage for each, then I post a 150-250 word excerpt of all my original articles with a link to my blog saying, "Continue reading ArticleX..."

I'm still learning traffic strategies myself, but maybe these will help some.

On a different note, I saw your post on kefir--I have a section for kefir on my 2-yr old niche website that's doing very well. If you're interested in a link exchange, I'd be happy to do that.

    Hi Wyatt...

I used to run a blog with your topic... and I used a technique that worked really well.

It won't work for all niche markets. But it works for yours because your content is "Evergreen." It doesn't go out of date.

I call the technique the "Traffic Recycling Method." (yeah, I just made that up)

    Here's how it works:

Step # 1: Focus on getting visitors on the email/notification lists.

Sell the opt-in with bullets of what they can expect inside the articles.

(Don't use one of those auto services where you don't have full control of the list.
Use Aweber or whatever you prefer)

Step # 2: As you create new articles, you're going to add
links to them in your autoresponder.

Inside your emails, you'll give a nice little 2-3 sentence tease
    of what's in the article.

Sell the click and the article. Tell them why it's timely.

Here's what happens when you do this:

    1. You continually drive traffic back to old articles.

Typically, inside a blog... if older articles don't get a prime position
in the search engines, they die a slow death.

Browsers never reach the old ones.

    2. You can add social media buttons (Facebook "like" button,
Twitter button, and Google+ button). Be sure to have a call
to action to use the buttons.

Over time... you now not only have a growing mailing list...
you've got a "Self propelling" traffic system.

    - Customers join your mailing list ==> Get rotated through all
your old content ==> they use social media to drive more
    traffic to the old content

    3. You're building a list you can monetize with affiliate offers
    or your own products.

Almost all of the ideas mentioned above are good for getting traffic, targeted traffic. I personally found article directory marketing effective, along with a Facebook page, Twitter, social bookmarking and guest posting. I really haven't done that much blog commenting and forum posting within my niche yet. Guess I should get right on that.

Your traffic will come in time if you just stick with it. Your blog looks really good and I'm sure it will become popular in time.
