You may have identified a good niche in the health/fitness arena that doesn't have a lethal amount of competition. Besides normal PPC sort of advertising you can establish yourself as an expert on related forums and do a little light promotion well after being established.
Creating an article blog should be worthwhile for attracting organic search traffic.

Are you serious? There is MASS competition with insomnia! Yes it's a good niche, but the competition is huge!

There are a number of ways in promoting insomnia products. First, you have to create an eye-catching design or print ads that will attract the attention of people. Then, use your creativity to make a catch-phrase to your product like "The answer to your sleepless nights", this is just an example, just came out of my mind. After you had your visual design to your product, you will have to choose either to promote your product through online or offline marketing. If you prefer to use online marketing, make sure to have lists of the people that you are to send your ads. If you are not yet familiar with SEO, I would suggest that you start to learn from people who are expert on that field. And also, the content of your ad should be of top quality and not just a copy-paste article.
And if you prefer offline marketing, you should choose which technique or strategy to disseminate the information of your product. You can choose from cold calling, print ads, fliers or personal visitation of clients. Although it requires your time and effort, you have to commit yourself to the work that you will start.
Never be discouraged and never give up if at first it doesn't work out for you. Always keep a positive outlook in life.

It depends if you can compete for the keyword as to whether you should spend a lot of time making back links. If you write a hundred articles with very specific titles, like what do I do if I haven't slept for days, then you will slowly get traffic. One cent clicks might be the way to go, if you have a good profit margin, and a good sales page.

Use PPC to market out your product and since insomnia is a difficulty in sleeping you can expect to have a great number of potential buyers. You can catch them by developing your website into a SEO friendly.

You need to build a list, and send people to a squeeze page from your articles.

Then give them good free info, and get them nice and warmed up for you product, and keep redirecting them back to your sales page.

Dont not worry about the people saying you are in a competitive niche, that just means there are lots of people with money to spend on your products similar to yours. go for it, but start building some sort of list.
