My Video website idea

Here is what I'm doing. I'm creating a video website (kind of a youtube clone structure). It will have local videos (personal vlogs, news, local musicians, etc) i get from youtube and other video websites. I will also had entertaining/popular viral videos to mix things up. I want to eventually have people upload their own videos so I don't have to use videos from other sites as much. The goal is to sell local ads/clickbank/affilate programs in the future. If I get enough views do you think this idea would work (lets say I get around a million or more views a month)?

I think it is good idea. I have also been thinking on same lines. But questions here?

Would you use wordpress for this site?
How will you allow people to upload videos?

  Check out phpsugar.com (not an affiliate link). Their php Melody software will do everything you mentioned and it's cheap.

Thanks for the positive responses. I the site to be hyperlocal so I can get local businesses. My only fear is content. I noticed a lot of the videos related to the city or people post can be boring. I may mix it up with viral videos and other more interesting content. Anyone think that's a good idea>

  Sounds like a very good idea. I would add videos from the night life and club scenes to get a lot of the youth market clicks. Here is a hulu styled theme that seems pretty good. (no affiliate link)

  Idea is good, that is the future of television ) I'd also look into the more or less simple ways to create original content. For example convert photos into video with the tools like TrueKat Show and stuff.
  
  BTW I don't see any harm in using YouTube as a hosting. Your task is to aggregate the content and present it in a nice and convenient form. Lots of successful video site do just that.

Its a really good idea...but you also have to device a good plan on how to get that million views in a month... Good Luck
