I like your site. Looks nice. Have you tried Facebook advertising? Adwords?

We have a fan page with 700k fans on FB but find it hard to get them over to the site.

Starting a forum is tough but once they take off, the returns are great..

I'm using Facebook to drive targeted traffic to a new forum.
I've also hired ghost users to build great discussions and make the boards seem more active.

Do the ghost writers not speak really poor English though? Do you like the layout of bongal?

well yeah generally, the people who do these types of jobs have poor english.

But that's where your management skills come in. Managing a forum isn't only managing the software.

So go to odesk, post a job. Use only the good ones.

The website looks nice; however if I didn't already read this post I wouldn't really know that it's a forum.

Is there any other methods I should be using other than PPC and banner ads?

Branding is super important for a forum. You'll want to work on that a lot.

You must pay a few writers to participate of your discussions if you want to have traffic. Forums are dangerous because you depend on the public participation; you’ll have to spend a lot paying many people to post something. If you are lucky, your forum may attract real users and work by itself, but this is very Hard.

I wanted to create a forum at my website but I gave up when I learned about having to pay writers to participate of the discussions, without knowing if this forum would really work…
