Is Internet Explorer 8 Safer Than IE7 for Mass Submission?

I know FireFox is far more safe than Internet Explorer. But...

Major submitter softwares such as article submission, web submission, profile creation, blog commenting, etc which are based on IE platforms, not FireFox.

I am considering to upgrade IE software from IE7 to IE8.

Is IE8 more safe than IE7 for protecting the Windows and harddisk from any viruses and any spies?

Please share your opinion and experience. If necessary, please show the url (about IE8 security).

    i wouldn't do an upgrade to the newer version of IE because each time ms releases an upgrade then try to track down what the user is doing.
