Good software to manage a network of 100+ WP blogs?

Hi. It's gotta be out there somewhere... the near-perfect software
which creates new Wordpress blogs at the click of a button after
you enter some details in the central register + updates all
your Wordpress plugins from that central management console.

In other words, blog network management software.

When I want to add a plugin to every site in the network,
I just want to add it to the central place and click the
'update all my blogs' button. Is that possible?

How do marketers with 1,000 or 5,000 blogs manage their
blog networks? - that's the sort of tool I'm looking for here.

THANKS in advance for any comments, warnings of what to
avoid, affiliate links and self-promotional replies. All are
welcome.

Gary

To clarify
I'm talking about managing multiple WP blogs
on multiple different domains.

Thanks Al, but my memory says that WPMU will
manage a bunch of blogs on the same domain.
I'm looking to manage a bunch of blogs on a
      bunch of different domains.

Looks like ManageWP.com might do the management job for you, it users Worker Plugins to access the blogs, they are still in beta and not quoting prices. Currently a web based service, they are looking into providing a self hosted version for greater security.
You might also have to look into autoblogger tools for populating your plantation of blogs.

Panda is no friend of the autoblog.

ManageWP.com seems good so far coupled with the fact that it's free, gives me time to truly check up on them for what they are worth before they start charging.
