I'd been using NVU for awhile, but then I had some problem with it on one of my computers (memory maybe? no idea now). So now I use HTML-Kit, which I just found on download.com.

I use good ole' fashioned Notepad to code my html and CSS.. I've got tons of templates that I've created over the years so I just modify one of those if i need to, then change the look within the CSS. Simple and valid html/css. |

I also use a basic template, but I edit them in Dreamweaver and clean up the code by hand. This is what works for me...

EditPlus is my favoured html editor. FTP access, syntax highlighting and full control over my code ![]() If I were to use a WYSIWIG editor I'd go with dreamweaver though. |

Evil DreamWeavel ... If a carpenter wants a quality finish, he'll use quality tools... Unless he "passes the buck onto some other shmuck" (outsourcing)... For any kind of site I use MS Visual Studio and VS.PHP - but everything is hand coded in those IDE's. I find it's faster, less bloated and the coding is far more cleaner doig it that way.

I am an avid user of XSitPro. Although I know HTML, I rarely have enough time. XSitePro makes the job so much easier, and quicker. I can knock up a site in no time, so that it starts getting indexed by the search engines. When time permits I go back and tweak the look and feel of it.

| I think it has more to do with the learning curve of having to learn a program to do it. Besides, I'd have to go back and fix all of the rubbish in notepad anyway if I wanted valid html and CSS... Er... I mean, hell yeah, I'm hard core! |

I overkill every site that I make by either using wordpress or joomla. The design may look simplistic, but the power of those 2 cms's and the plugin's and extensions made available outweight any sort of simplistic dreamweaver/frontpage design i can throw up.

MS FrontPage here, older (2000) version to do the initial design, then edit manually via the built-in HTML editor as needed. Or if I'm really in a hurry then I just find a site I like on the web and steal it. ![]() - Darrell |
