That would be spam my friend!

If you are interested in selling your website you should scout the websites where you can post them up for sale and figure out how much your website is worth. Flippa, and forums.digitalpoint are really simple to use.

I'd be very wary of this. They are operating under a company name, but there is no evidence that such a company actually exists? It very well could be a scam, where they tell you they will put the money into one of their "trusted escrow services". They send you to a real enough looking site, you transfer ownership and find the money and the escrow service were not real.

I wouldn't risk it.

Sounds intersting haha, I think I will act as a interested buyer until the point where any "real" information and or money needs to exchange hands to see what how thier scam exactly works.

I found the same comment on one of my affiliate website. I was shocked to see it how come someone was offering me $3000 straight away for a small website.

My website is ranking high on the search engine. I think he is targeting websites with high rankings.

It doesn't sound legitimate to me it may be a way to get you on their list or just respond to send you an offer. I know there is a craigslist scam where people want to send you money for a service but they are fake checks and then they ask for a refund.

I'd delete it. Go to Google and type in with quotes
"jake from WebAcquisitionsUnited"

Annoying! I got the email as well, I thought I was going to get some cash but then I saw this post!
As far as a scam it must be either escrow service scam or maybe just trying to get a database on people who read comments, or maybe just a list of people who own websites. Anyway I regret having replied now but Aksimet plugin should keep me safe

someone wanting to buy a website most likely isn't going to leave a post comment anyway. On my small "niche" sites, I'm even leery of things that come through the contact form. Usually, someone is smart enough to find you .... whether that is through privacy/whois/whatever if they are serious about buying.

I received one of those emails 4-5 months back and no doubt it is spam. If the person or company approaching you doesn't even have a website, I'd do nothing more than delete their email.

This seems to be spam. There is a trick to find out Spam messages & comments. Copy a part/sentence of the message and enter it for Google search.... if you find too many similar results for that comment then it is something which is fake & unreal.

I did same with your comment... When I use a part of it for Google search it shows up dozens of results for exactly the same piece of text, so its spam... ignore it!!

Update: I just checked into my wordpress blog and I find that akismet is having problems not working properly, being blocked by my host supposedly. Maybe the spammer has been messing around with it somehow.

I have received the same post on my blog...I dumped the info. No web site about who he is or the company he works for or is he a business owner. It is kind of shady and probably wants your info, and then you will land up being scammed..Hope this helped...

Ran a google search for "webacquisitionsunited"- found similar comments on multiple sites

A search for bigbloggerjake also shows up multiple such comments

I'd call it spam; if you do intend to reply, get yourself a throwaway email account so that you can avoid getting burnt...

I got the same message/offer (for a 1 year old blog with just a handful of posts) and the same reply when I asked for more info. I, too, searched the name/email address, etc.

That was two days ago and nothing has come through since. I was skeptical from the start but wanted to see where it'd go.

I also got the same message on my blog.

What made me suspicious was that I'd had the blog up for a mere week when this "offer" came through. There's NO way that the site could be valued at that much since I'm in the process of tweaking the design before launch. Like everyone else, I checked Google to see if this guy had been posting all over the place.

I wonder if this is some sort of overpayment scam. I didn't have time to play "response-footsie" with the guy, and the fact that in the response email he asks for your blog name suggests that he's using some sort of blog-crawling script.
