If you have a huge amount of followers, targeted to a specific niche it still can be profitable.
Also having those software that sends Private Messages on it after following can help.

I actually have around 23k followers and I have made a grand total of USD 10 on Twitter. My opinion is, if you are using twitter just to make money, dont bother.

Could not agree more. I use it as a traffic and list building tool, but have had problems with it lately. Don't know if there is something wrong with my account but I'm at the point where I don't really care anymore because the time invested in using Twitter doesn't really end up being a good investment.

Other people may use it differently and have differing levels of success.

Yea, it is pretty much a lost cause if you are trying solely to use twitter. The only real way that can become lucrative is if a couple of factors are met. One: you have to have a lot of followers, and as mentioned above, that sometimes doesn't even get the job done on its own. Second, you have to have some kind of action based theme, because updated through a tweet, even campaigns, isn't going to do anything, your followers have to be motivated and trustworthy. Pretty much an impossible task to only focus on twitter and be successful, so I concur with the statement above.

same as yasir, 4k followers in a tight niche.... if someone is banking using twitter I would like to see how without spamming. The invention of the auto add tools killed twitter as a means to really connect.

I think it really depends on what you are marketing and how you are targeting your followers. If you are just adding random people from twiends and the like sites your really not going to make any money. Basically everyone on twiends wants the same thing Fast folllowers + the ratio of followers drops like crazy with twiends.

But back to the topic, you really have to target your audience, send a PM to each new follower, and filter, filter, filter your followers.

Like ZaneZenMaster said "Also having those software that sends Private Messages on it after following can help."

You can make TONS of money off Twitter, it's simple. Get an autofollow bot setup and gather up tens of thousands of (non)followers, then sell a course on how you have created a massive following on Twitter.

Twitter's not as hot as it used to be, so it might not work as well now as it used too though.

There are better ways my friend, there are better ways!

But wait, there always are, so here's some good stuff to get you rolling...

1./ don't follow everyone back that follows you, it actually looks good when you follow fewer people
2./ interact with your followers and talk with them
    3./ NEVER AUTOMATE TWITTER
4./ make sure to be "controversial" for example, use phrased like "earth shattering, ball crushing mind f**k" just kidding, well sort of, you have to really stand out and have personality!
5./ treat your twitter like your own show, bring the newest news to your followers and train them to look to you as the expert and the newsbringer
6./ oh yea, don't take anyone's sh*t, if they say negative stuff all the time, drop them like third period french.
7./ talk from authority, because you ARE the authority, but don't be an as*hol* about it, you promise?

Great advice. I'd also like to add that it's a lot easier to get targeted followers then most people think, it just takes time, patience and commitment.
      1. Start by following users that already follow someone that's popular in your niche
      2. make sure that you have content on your account before you begin following others
      3. interact with your followers
      4. give them something of value and they'll stay with you
      5. Tweet about things that are likely to be retweeted, this will make your tweet go viral and get more people to follow you.
      6. wait until you have a large follower base before you start trying to sell them things.
      7. Don't go overboard and publish 200 tweet per day, this could get very annoying for your followers.

How about a free Twitter Traffic Course?

It's a pdf I made. You will need to have the adobe acrobat reader program to view this course. The videos play within the pdf on windows pc. they should also for mac but I am not sure. You can get the adobe acrobat program free from adobe.com

You can get the course from http://www.digitalmoolah.com/twitter_traffic.pdf

    Hope this helps.

If you spend time maximizing Twitter and have come up with a large following, and I mean in the tens of thousands, you may have a chance of making some money.

However, I find that there's a lot of automation going on with Twitter, and unless you are a celeb or have developed a kick ass persona, then chances are you'd be struggling if you quit your day job to survive off Twitter related income.

There's a lot of activity going on in Twitter that is one automation communicating with another, and therefore you're not really connecting with buyers or potential prospects.

I personally don't see much opportunity with Twitter.

Having said that, you may want to find someone who has a successful Twitter strategy and pick their brain about it.

Basically twitter has presented itself as a micro-blogging platform where a user can shout out anything they want to his 'followers' within the limit of 140 characters.
For those of you who don't remember the April announcement about Promoted Tweets, basically, they're ad-based tweets that Twitter promised to promote more prominently on the top of relevant Twitter results pages--rather like Google's sponsored search results. The big, and I thought crazy, caveat was that Twitter would pull "Promoted Tweets" that weren't performing. This was something new in advertising.

    I do :-)

I think that part of the key is to be consistent so
that you followers know what to expect from you,
and then don't be afraid to tell them about things
that you want to share with you.

I do use automation to pre-schedule some tweets.

You do want to engage in 2-way conversations, but
I do now find that I spend much more time on Facebook
where I'm not restricted to 140 character soundbites!

Twitter has made it much harder to use them to make money. They have really clamped down on the follow/unfollow rules and now strongly enforce the 1 hour api limit. You could definitely use it to make money and it's a great way to start a blog or site from scratch. But it's a hellacious amount of work once you get started...

But I owe a lot to twitter: I think it's how my blog got off the ground.

I want to use twitter down the road, but only when I can pay someone to handle the follow/unfollow part of it. I just don't have time now to manage that or program it and your account can get suspended very easily with third party apps.

Does anyone think there is money in getting high referrals on Sponsored Tweets? If it does end up taking off very well 10% of all tweets from your referrals really can add up if you get some big accounts. It's something I have been thinking about.

I think its full of spam these days, but still if you give your readers good stuff you can make money there.

My opinion is no. If you can focus on building a tight niche following and offer free content in order to build a list and then use software to get them to take it viral...that is what has worked well for me. Which translates into cash flow. BUT if you are build a twitter following to send them Clickbank offers...good luck :-)

You can if you have a huge number of followers and that you are able to build real relationship with them. Twitter is a fantastic platform to build relationships, drive traffic and make sales. But, you need to do it really in that order. Before you can expect to make any money on twitter you need to take the time to build relationships.

The more you interact on twitter the better your response will be. If you build a loyal following on twitter your followers will be more likely to visit your sites and eventually purchase for you.

Make sure you convert your traffic on your website and don't send people directly to an offer. Horrible conversion trust me.

Further more Twitter needs an innovative approach when it comes to making money. Target the top 3 trends in your tweets. If you see a trend that corresponds with your website or a CPA offer your know of, then do jump the bandwagon and post tweets to the trends and you surely make some cash.

I'm no expert, but at the end of the day Twitter and Facebook are Social Platforms first and foremost. So if you don't build a relationship with your followers and provide useful, interesting info, engage them, make them laugh even, give then a real reason to follow you and like you (the old like, know, trust scenario), then you are unlikely to make money for sure.
